Retained list 2019/20

Always like it when things start early :)

https://accringtonstanley.co.uk/2019...retained-list/

I know that players can still move on, but at least we are trying to tie players down :)

No big surprises really.

Disappointed Will Wood hardly got a chance to show his potential. Always looked to have a decent left peg whenever I saw him play.

He struggled at Havant&Waterlooville when he was on loan there.
Looked out of his depth vs Barnsley
Saw him in training and he was dreadful.

Agree, no surprises with the 3 released.
Not holding my breath about Big Ben or Scotty signing a new deal.
Imagine Jonny probably will.

Glad Regan and Zehn are staying.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Jonny left...

Think Maxted and Dimi are both good number 2’s and think Coley will be pushing for a better keeper as his number 1.

Aaron Chapman might be shown the door at Peterborough according to a local rag.

Not obsessive just a fun topic during the summer months Aaron was a grand bloke but don't think for 1 minute he'll be back maybe Dumbavin could return though.

Re: Retained list 2019/20

I honestly thought Maxted was great at the end of the season when Dimi was suspended.

But like others have said , are they both number 2 keepers ???

There's always a loanee keeper from a Prem/ Championship team available im sure. Pretty much our best keepers over the last 20 years have been loanees, (Ripley, Betinelli, Elliott, Randolph to name but 4) with all due respect to the permanent lads.

Apparently it’s been reported that Stanley are interested in ex Hibs keeper Ross Laidlaw, also 6ft5. This tho may depend on Maxted staying or not.

Apart from the final few months of the season, I never really rated him.
Hard playing him out of position as a left back.
Didn’t score enough from set pieces.
No surprise he’s gone, closer to home, likely to be more money and looking at Bradford squad more likely he will be played as a CB.

Who could deny the great service Scott Brown has given to our club.
A no nonsense player's player who always gave 100%.
Positive & direct, he contributed greatly to our recent success.
Whenever we were struggling & Scotty came off the bench, I for one would think - 'Thank God for that!'
I'm sure he'll make a huge difference to the fortunes of Harrogate Town.
Thanks for all the memories Scott & the best of luck to you.

We have added Joe Pritchard to the midfield also.

We are back in training and fixtures are out, so - bearing in mind Piero - who should/will go and what do we need????

there comes a time when all players have to take less than they want just to continue their career. there are hundreds of em looking for clubs, training with different ones just to keep fit in a hope of getting the best deal. i imagine nearer to august it gets they might become a bit less fussy in who they sign for.

trouble with loans are that you only get em usually till the new year and then have to start all over again. for me it would be great if we could start the season without loan players and not be so reliant on em.

sounds a really good signing. 29 goals in a mid table side on poor pitches, tough defenders and much worse referees than stanley get can be discribed as an achievement itself. looking forward to seeing him.

Still think an experienced forward is needed subject to knowing what’s going on with Rodney.

Regardless of how good the players are as individuals, they need to quickly gel together as a team.
Did we best have the best individual players when we won League 2? No.
Did we have the best team? Yes.

Thats a good assessment i think, but i do think the squad got a good chance of gelling quickly.

Aye, this pre-season the squad has the luxury of several weeks rather than a few hours in the past.;)

agree. a keeper like betonelli was on a full season loan would do. the present keepers we have are only back up ones at the best.

Agree yet disagree loanees ok if you can keep them for the duration keeper such an important position also Evtimov is talented a run in the side with a keeper pushing him will do him a world of good Maxted I,m afraid just wasn't up to it for me.

I also thought Etimov was easily best of the two we had, but a season loan i wouldn't mind but prefer a bought one.

i meant for a complete season and not till the new year like last season. do not want to get into the situation like we had a few seasons ago with a different keeper coming in which seemed like every few weeks.

Just a quick FYI for anyone going to Bala tomorrow;
Understand it's going to be a mixture of fringe and youth players playing as Coley doesn't want to risk key players on artificial pitch.
Stronger XI on Monday at Warrington.

With the latest signing today, anyone know where you can see an up to date squad list?
