So far I am trying to build a list of players who have got definite contracts and extensions beyond this summer.
Not adding any names who are out of contract this summer until we know if they are staying or not.
So there are still questions about a number of players….
eg. Colby Bishop, Ross Sykes, Matt Butcher, Tommy Leigh, Liam Coyle, Jack Nolan, Lewis Mansell, Korede Adedoyin, Stephen Sama, Jay Rich-Baghuelou, Archie Procter, Harry Perritt, Josh Woods and a good number of youngsters from the U23 and U18 squads.
So please point me towards any confirmed news about signings in the coming weeks so they can be added to the Actually Retained On Contracts list.

Joe, I cannot find any reports showing Sean Mac having signed beyond this summer. I have been checking back mainly on the Fishy site for previous news items about players signing contracts and extensions. Can you point me to a report or news item if you are sure he has signed up again? We would all love him to stay with us of course as with a number of other players….Colby, Ross etc

Retained list is just players offered a contract at least as good as their last one, it doesn't mean they are staying. However if they don't sign it means they don't get severance pay and may be able to get a fee if young enough.

Majority of the players who are out of contract this season, the club have a 1 year extension option on them.
Butchers was taken up last year so is out of contract this summer.
Good news though that for most of first team, the ball is in the clubs court.
Can’t imagine any surprises on retained list - like people have mentioned - Sama, Mansell likely to be released. Kev Spinelli probably on basis of Woods & Hardy ahead of him plus Adekoya coming through as well. Maybe a couple more of younger lads released Luke Stowe, Pleavin (Moonan has shone in comparison) etc. Purely just my opinion/guesses.

Regarding Butcher Pompey rumoured to be interested if true could see him leave for them has he hails from that neck of the woods.

I hope that we can get some of our remaining players signed up, such as, Colby Bishop, Ross Sykes and Matt Butcher but as StanleyJosh and others have suggested there is likely to be competition from other clubs for their services. Also I would like to see some of our younger players with real potential offered contracts or extensions. Emerich Poilly, who I rate very highly, for example signed a two and a half year professional contract in January this year. So he is contracted until summer 2024. Other youngsters I rate highly are goalkeepers Isherwood and Hood, also Pickles, Wood, Trickett and Adekoya. Some of these youngsters have I think, been training with the first team squad this season.
If we do lose Butcher but we can keep Bishop, and Sykes and we sign up some of these youngsters I believe that we only need a few newcomers in order to build a really strong squad. Of course I think we are all in agreement that the players that we do bring to the club need to be in key positions. Perhaps one or two needed in each of these key positions; goalkeeper, left back and centre forward.
