Best news of the summer so far IMHO as far as Stanley is concerned! I really hope that Jay suffers no reactions and continues positively on his difficult journey back to full fitness. So so pleased for Jay! :theband::jimbo:

Kelvin Mellor signed on a one year deal 32 year's old mainly right back but can play all across the back four vast experience at this level decent addition.

Josh Andrew,s 6ft 5in centre forward 21 year's old joined on a year long loan from Birmingham plenty of experience of league 2 this is his 4th loan welcome aboard.

Didn’t see the game but, given the new-look Stanley squad, 2-3 doesn’t seem like a bad result against a team that just missed out on promotion last season (and have been strengthened with Grigg and Naylor this summer).

I watched my first Stanley pre season friendly today v Chesterfield.
Good to see Jay Rich Baghuelo in action but he will need a good run of matches to get up to full fitness and to get match ‘sharp’.
Of the new players I was quite impressed with centre back Brad Hills. He looked fit, quick and played with a good brain. He also scored a cracking header in the second half before being subbed. I will reserve judgement on commenting on the other three newbies.Chesterfield definitely looked more like a ‘team unit’ than Stanley. I thought that some of our home bred youngsters looked comfortable when they came on in the second half.:jimbo:
It was good to get back on the Clayton End to join in the critical shouts at the referee who was totally useless!:dummy2:

I THOUGHT the second half was better than the first from behind the goal our defence on the right handside defence was chronic,second half was much better, thought Nolan did well and deserved his MOM.

Nobody is privy to anything going on behind the scenes apart from club officials I presume so the lad could have :- been offered something and he,s mulling it over or turned it down, management didn't think he fit the bill, or he,s considering other options it's anyone,s guess but one thing for sure is scoring an hat trick in a pre-season friendly doesn't guarantee a 20+ goals season.

Rumours are that he asked for more money than the club had to spend. It seems Norton thought he deserved more than was offered, despite really needing to prove himself worthy of a higher wage.

Maybe the club thought it was too big a risk to take on a player with no track record of scoring goals at league level.

Liam Isherwood turned out for Guisley FC this weekend named has trailist on teamsheet he was offered a new contract along with Dan Martin this summer but nothing saying either have signed them.

The wages cost must be coming down quite quickly now, we don't know the cost or agreement of who pays what on the loans, but there has been and will be more exits to come I'm sure (including our biggest earner)........

Correct andyd as per my post a few days ago on Vals "Season 18 thread". Durable injury free players are a must this season. Maybe connected to our recruitment of a "Senior Physio".........

Creativety in the middle of midfield is a bit lacking has well with Pritchard still injured and Dan Martin on the fringe,s leads to far too much reliance on wing play and become,s predictable or worse still hoof ball which I am sure everyone was sick of last season.

Personally think we didn't have much last season hence why the striker,s or lack of them were feeding on scraps constantly changing midfield with injuries and trying for a decent combination cost us in the end.

I watched the last two friendly matches and for me Kode Adedoyin is looking more confident after getting some goals. I believe that he and Josh Andrews could build into a good partnership down the centre with Woods backing them up. Then with Jack Nolan, evergreen Whalley and Longelo providing them with ammo we could surprise a few people!:theband::jimbo:

Well with Hamilton, Nottingham, Morgan, Sisse, Sangare plus Hardy @ co in the summer moving on plus a fee for Hamilton I reckon the club must have shaved £500,000 of the budget only bringing Mellor up to now on wages rest loans so imagine subsidized thoughts on way forward now?

Today we have signed Joe Gubbins 22 years old left/back/central defender on a season long loan from QPR has been in the squad for all four of QPR,s games this season 1 full plus 2 sub appearances in the Championship and an appearance in their EFL cup tie looks a decent enough signing and the right age.

Stanley have today signed on a one year deal 20 years old midfielder Ben Woods on Manchester United,s books then spent 4 years at Burnley before joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle on a short term deal in January playing in quite a few games born in Wigan was keen to move nearer home Coleman says he has a great left foot maybe another Hamilton in the making.
