Contracted players for season2024/25

Good to see Alex Henderson has signed a three year contract.
I understand that Jay Rich-Baghelou has one more year on contract.
Any more information and notice of players contracts would be good to know about…….?

Brilliant news about Henderson :)

Would like to see more of the young kids signing up, like Martin, Woods, O'Brien, to name three :)

Cannot afford the likes of J.R.B., Pritchard, who do not play (or enough) :(

Quirk has another season...

:)

Re: Contracted players for season2024/25

Just looked at websites for Norwich (Brad Hills and Lewis Shipley) and QPR (Joe Gubbins) ……..Brad and Lewis have contracts at Norwich until 1925. Joe had a three year contract which finishes this summer. I hope that we can make an approach to sign Joe permanently and approach Norwich for a second loan season with us for Brad and Lewis. Along with Connor O’Brien, the find of the season, I think that our defence became a pretty good set in the last third of the season.

Great to read that.

As much as I like Tommy, he has not reached his potential and has not been the same player for ages now....

Might be due to several things, but if he goes and we get a few quid, so be it....

I am much more excited about Connor and Alex signing up - the kids are the way for us.....

Re: Contracted players for season2024/25

Gillingham fan here. Not come here to gloat but always interested in what the fans thought of players we sign. We really lacked pace and goals last season. Nolan scored a very good number for you last season. Is he a true winger or someone he plays more centrally as well. Is he a pacey player ?

I think most of us felt he might move up a league as well but with new ownership we are different club these days. I suspect he's been tempted by a decent wage (in the same way Ness left Crewe to join us) and its a move that bit closer to home given his Southampton/Reading roots.

Good luck next season.

Am i right in thinking that of those that were out of contract and were offered new deals theres only Savin and Pritchard to make a decision one way or the other ?

Or were their offers time constrained and as they havnt signed you have to assume that theyve decided not to and we can expect to hear that theyve gone elsewhere anytime now.

You are right.
Of the ‘offered deals’, Whalley, Conneely and O’Brien have signed, Nolan and Longelo have gone elsewhere, and we await Savin and Pritchard.
At the last “fans’ forum” it was suggested that players offered deals had a week to respond but I suspect what that meant was that John & Ged would not start looking for ‘replacements’ for a week. I assume the offers will stay open until they are not.

I agree Val. If we stick out for a "high figure" which I think we should we may get to keep him until the January window....when other teams may be keener to sign him?

All depends on the new management duo's approach.....with Jack gone already...perhaps he'll be allowed to go now? Guess we'll know soon with the window open today.

We've today lost another goal scoring midfielder. We have signed two lads from Boston who, whatever their last season's success in National League North, have to step up two divisions, as did Matt Lowe, and are unknown quantities at this level. Who is going to supply them and, absent Tommy and Jack, who is going to supplement their goals from midfield? As things stand I am worried.

Re: Contracted players for season2024/25

Lots have changed at Stanley but one thing that hasn’t is the fact we, and the managers, probably won’t know who’s in the squad until very, very close to the start of the season (if not after it’s started).
But, we’ve got Alex Henderson, Ben Woods, Shaun Whalley and Dan Martin as attacking midfielders.
My concern is more about the defence where, unless another nugget like Brad Hills is unearthed, we need some experience and physicality to supplement Seb Quirk and Jay Rich-Baghuelou.

Yes, I remember him too.
And did I hear it correctly that Stanley gave him a League 2 winners medal for his previous efforts for the club? Nice gesture.

This lad looks to be a really good prospect.:theband:

I make that:

21 Contracted Players plus 1 loan signing, of which we have 1 Keeper (Michael Kelly) and 7 under 21 with a contract. Not sure how the 20 year old Loan Signing is treated under EFL rules? If they are included in the "22" player limit, then we have room for another (22 minus keeper minus 7 = 14) Which means 8 more players. Anyone else been counting? (Wages budget allowing)

Well that was soon answered, defender Donald Love formerly of Morecambe on a 2 year contract - welcome aboard

I wonder if Ash Hunter will make it a trio of ex-Shrimps?

Good to get some more experience in defence. Welcome to Stanley, Donald.

Pleased that both Faz and Love have gout themselves new deals BUT our experience of Love is that he is far better in midfield than he is at full back and that he tended to make mistakes in defence and that when the going gets tough he blames all those around him never accepting responsibility for his mistakes.

However in Faz you have a gem of a player and i for one wish that person well...except when he faces his former club.
