Small piece on Ryan Hopper in paper
I was about to chuck out the free paper I get when I recognised a Stanley shirt on the back page.
I've looked for it online but to no avail - here is a transcript of the article from the back page of the Glossop Advertiser
Quote:
Pro deal is Hopper's aim.
DROYLSDEN boy Ryan Hopper admitted it would be a dream come true to sign a contract for League Two Accrington Stanley.
The 18-year-old made his first team début at Torquay earlier this month and the midfielder nicknamed "Scholesy" by his team-mates is hoping to sign his first professional contract.
"It's what you dream about." said Hopper, who went to Audenshaw High School.
"I had been on the bench for a couple of games as there have been a number of injuries. When they read out my name before the Torquay game to say I was starting, I had a lump in my throat."
"The lads were really pleased for me and they nicknamed me "Scholesy" straight away and it has spread to the fans. I love the nickname as he(Paul Scholes) is a brilliant player. I just want to do the Accrington fans, my family and myself proud now if I get a contract."
Hopper has had to cope with a few setbacks along the way, having been released by Manchester United and Blackburn.
He went to Oldham for a season but didn't make it until a trial game for Accrington in 2010 ended with a scholarship.
"I guess I would like to prove a few people wrong who let me go" he admitted "I have had a lot of ups and downs but now I feel settled, I have got a chance and have got to take it"
