Re: Trouble

As I was walking down from the ground, there was a lot of police activity near the Minster. Got to the station and the cops were escorting about a dozen lads through to the platforms in a "get out of town" scenario. They weren't wearing Stanley colours and I've never seen them on the IES.

Re: Trouble

Can confirm outside sourced were involved yesterday. One mouthy person shouting the odds as we left the ground who several of us commented had never seen at the Interlink & was last seen heading down towards station & then police van shot down as we were waiting for bus. One elderly York City fan commented about trouble near bottom of road & we let him know that intelligence had been leaked re some Burnley fans had made the journey over to cause trouble & that Stanley fans do their talking on the pitch through the players only. Not suggesting they are all tarred with same brush but why didn't they try a few rounds with Delia on Friday night than interupt our party! To be fair to the above BBC link it did not say Stanley fans were involved, just that we had played York & beat them 4-2.

Re: Trouble

No, but people will think that Stanley fans were involved, simply by implication. Hopefully, the BBC will correct the story, once the truth of the matter is established.

Re: Trouble

Morecambe did a full investigation after the trouble there and made a press release .. it said a full investigation by both clubs and the police was made and stating quite clearly that no accrington fans where involved in trouble and morecambe fans only protected themselves.

yet to this day Morecambe fans and the rest of the conference still refer to it as accy fans in the morecambe end..

BBC making there story clear wont change the fact that we have been tarred and will stay tarred forever more.... why? because people prefer the scandal than the truth..... and accy fans are no different in that respect.

Re: Trouble

I had also heard that about two hundred Burnley and Blackburn fans were going to York to cause trouble. We even notified the Club of what we had heard. They said that the Police would be aware of the threat.

Its a very poorly written and researched article. The fighting was between York and a mix of Burnley/Blackburn fans, none actual Accrington fans. Theres an email address on that article for the bloke who wrote it if you want to tell him how you feel!
