Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right.
Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.
I agree with you about the BA statement, its the old say where terrorism is concerned, we have to be luck 100% of the time, they only have to be lucky once, better to take a little longer at the airport and reach your destination, than speeding things up and a plane ends up in the Atlantic
thats twice in one day weve agreed with each other im getting worried

Obama using words like 'credible', 'apparently', 'explosive materials', top gun teams of Maverick and Iceman escorting an Emirates filght to landing on National TV, one that took off from Dubai, not Yemen, but is instantly known as a muslim airline by its logo?
credible?.. something believable... like santa claus, fairies, elves, god?
apparently?... something that is reported second hand... like santa claus, fairies, elves, god?
explosive materials...something like toner cartridges, cigarette lighters, deoderants?
and finally....the top gun team...erm? why?..surely if theres a definite terrorist issue you shoot down the 400 in the plane, you dont risk a landing/last minute deviation and let it blow up 1k+ on the ground.
Aint it weird, yesterday BA says the USA are too strict on passengers, today there is a major bomb scare.
Packages addressed from the Yemen to a jewish bagle house in New York on a cargo plane, and the explanation is its a test run???
A test/dry run that is addressed to the final target, Wow! some really, really, really, really dumb terrorists?
Personally, I really don't know what to believe here, bbut I'm damn sure that something aint right!
I know what your saying, those cartridges could have been put there by anyone? It's called pushing buttons - they wheel out some "event" to reinforce the idea that we need more security - when anyone could have put those cartridges there - for example...
It just seems really dumb to me how those packages got that far in transit - one conveniently ends up in the Midlands, I thought they'd have already tightened up airport freight security a long time ago. This incident seems very odd
I have stopped travelling abroad now.......I think that profiling is the way forward.
Why treat everyone as a terrorist? and yes I know that we have to be lucky all of the time, while the terrorists only have to be lucky once......but surely there is a middle ground.
As an elderly white woman, lived all my life in the UK, what are the chances of me wanting to blow up a plane?
So why should I be treated as if I am a terrorist, rather than a tourist?

Cargo has always been the week link in the chain. It is not a matter of beefing up security, but putting in place a system that profiles and spots potential problems before they arise. The current system can be likened to closing the door after the horse has bolted.
Ask anybody in the industry, you will find this is the general feeling.

Still lots of 'could be', 'may be', 'perhaps', 'cannot be sure'...it's as though they are thinking 'hmm, Blair and his WMD, he coudn't argue his way out, but if we say 'could', and 'may', if it comes out to be not true we can always say we didn't say it was.
We have security experts saying its a very professional job, the yanks saying it 'could be' similar to a taliban attack and yet the yemenis reckon its some tart with a grudge.
I'm still keeping an open mind here, I still think something aint quite right about this.

Tony Blair got away with it didn't he - they told lies (oh sorry we are not allowed to say that in this politically correct - bureaucratic whitewashing society) Blair made up a pack of lies in order to get other politicians and the public to back the war in Iraq, with his weapons of mass destruction. Even though 2 Million people marched against it. It's like attacking someone in the street because you "thought" they were going to attack you. Same principle.
Whether these threats and devices are real or not is rather academic for those of us who spend our lives in the air.
There are people out there trying to kill us, it's that simple.
I don't really understand where Tony Blair, sorry Liar, comes into this. Everyone knows the whole 45 minutes etc was just Bull s@@t.
This maybe all a pack of lies, but it does concern me and I will be watching anything that goes into the hold's of my aircraft.

Your not wrong about Fox/Sky (Murdoch owned) playing it up a bit , though the reports do say that the Canucks F16s from the north of us escorted the Emirates jet from mid Atlantic into US air space ,presumably taking over from the RAF , the flight from Dubai to New York overflys the UK (check 'great circle routes') does seem a bit odd packages addressd to a jewish synagogs with Yemeni postmarks ....give me a break , I'm thinking even the dumbest of the chosen people would have been wise enough not to open it.
Ah, some Canadian content However, the Royal Canadian Air Force uses the CF 18 Hornet
