Re: Chimney on rhyddings street

It's fifty years ago this week since the Berlin Wall went up, and twenty-odd years since it came down. Bits of that wall can be now bought in Germany and elsewhere for a not inconsiderable sum.

Someone should get to the Rhyddings Street site and grab a few bucket fulls of rubble, mount the different bits on pieces of 'owd wood, and then flog 'em on ebay or somewhere similar - "Souvenir of the Rhyddings St Mill Chimney - actual piece". There are more than enough idiots in Ossy who'd buy the stuff, so there's good money to be made.

Yes the chimney is getting pulled down. Saw 2 cranes this morning pulling bits down from top of the chimney.

Looks like they've stopped for a tea break.

There is a 'photo in the link to the Telegraph you put up, Bee, but snapped a few myself this morning. Those cranes are huge, aren't they. Can also see the bucket I presume they were loading the bricks into ? Or perhaps dropping them down the chimney ? Got a lovely wave from one of the workmen..

It's a pity we couldn't do this...

BBC News - Bolton home plan for Victorian chimney

We could have voted who we'd like to stick up there.

By 2-3 weeks, the chimney & mill will be torn down like Lego bricks.
