Re: Mosque at Ground Zero

Of course you can provide evidence?

Didn't think so. Try talking to people from all walks of life. You'll learn a lot more than you will from the Daily Mail, Express, or for that matter Accyweb....

Re: “oppositional defiant disorder”

The jigsaw story is interesting, but I'd lay odds there's more to it than that.

A lot of kids with an ADHD diagnosis actually have autism, which would likely be a closer fit.

I work with a lot...

Re: Mosque at Ground Zero

I work with Muslims. Each one of them was horrified by 9/11. None of them wear the burqa (full length garment with head covering) or niqab (full face veil).

All of them see themselves as British....

Re: “oppositional defiant disorder”

ODD is not about "free thinkers" but generally diagnosed in children who are defiant over even the smallest demand - like "tidy your room" or "brush your teeth" - but to an extreme level.

It has...

Good to see they got out safely. Time to leave 'em alone.

Re: Frogs ban Burka

I wonder how many people would be willing to wear the burqa if they knew it's origin?

It was used by prostitutes to hide their identity. Hence a reference in the Old Testament to the guy who...

Re: Cold Winter Fuel Payments for Pensioners to be cut

I was listening to an old Goon Show (Tales of Old Dartmoor) that had Seagoon referring to a con man prisoner who was no longer inside - he'd become an MP.

We talk about a lack of respect as if...

Re: £260m 'wasted' in axing school building plans

The last Tory government left power with unemployment higher than they inherited, and it was under that lot that unemployment reached record heights: at the time I worked in a Jobcentre and it was...

Re: Cuts and yet more Cuts.. for who?

I dunno, spend a bit of time away and what happens?:hesoff:

I know the tax suggestion was a while back but its criticism shows a lack of knowledge about how the tax system works: with £20k as the...

Re: Council homes to have fixed term tenancies

It's a throwback to before World War I. A land fit for heroes?

Not ruddy likely with this bunch in power.

Council housing is not cheap - you still have to pay a commercial rent by law...

Re: Isn't It Time Cyclists re-claimed the road?

Mate of mine was hit by a cyclist. Cyclist was on the pavement. My mate was walking. Broke his collarbone. Cyclist scraped his knee. Police were not sympathetic towards the cyclist but refused to...

Re: Frogs ban Burka

Clamp down on asylum seekers - who are here legitimately until proven otherwise - and you increase illegal immigration, which is a damn sight harder to spot.

The rules on asylum seekers are...

Re: Watch where your taking photo's round here!

I've been a photographer for over 40 years and never once had a problem with police, public, kids, schools or anything else.

Because I do it legally and never antagonistically. And I've never had...

Re: Yorkshire Ripper - The Sequel.

In some cases the addiction comes first, in others drugs are used by the particularly nasty characters who force these women into the work - the bruises don't tend to attract "punters" but compliance...

Re: Observer new website

I think it was Mark Twain who wrote "reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated," Jaysay, after confusion over one of his cousins who had been seriously ill. Journalistic standards haven't...

Re: Will Gordon go????

Of course the last time a coalition government was formed - a proper "back door deal" - was during WW2.

Sorry, Shakermaker, but in actual fact this election is probably the most honest we've had...

Re: Will Gordon go????

Brown has two legal choices. He doesn't go until there is a clear decision as to who will be able to replace him, or go to the Queen and say "I resign. The only choice you've got is to ask Cameron to...

Re: Will Gordon go????

Constitutionally we cannot have a situation where we have no government, but until Cameron and Clegg have stopped dancing, they are not going to take over. So Brown has to stay on until a deal is...

Re: Riot (News Blackout)

The thing about playing the call to prayer is interesting. Most mosques are built in areas where there is a high proportion of muslims, who are hardly going to complain - so why do it other than as...

Re: The Culture of Death marches onwards!

Except... I'm hearing comments that say that kids expect too much - and who set those expectations? Not the kids. Not the schools. My parents went through the hell of war as children. They knew...

Re: The Culture of Death marches onwards!

Anyone who complains about the youth of today needs to remember who the parents and grandparents are.

And hang their heads in shame. Because if anyone is to blame, it's them. Including me.

Kids...

Re: No finger lickin' bacon in Accy.

I never use KFC, McDonalds or Burger King, and Pizza Hut are now on my list of no-go dumps too.

As for who's being PC, it isn't KFC. As others have said, they are simply looking to boost profits....
