The Census is compulsory
Every household must return a form by law. This is because it is
important for people not to be missed out – the Census is designed to be
a complete count of the population. Failure to make a completed return,
or giving false information, is an offence which may attract a fine of up
to £1,000
I have never objected to supplying info in the past - now I have serious doubts about how it will be used.

At a rough estimate I would say the 2011 Census will be 'popping' along in about 2 years, costs nowt but a bit of biro ink, OR HAVE YOU SOMETHING TO HIDE?
A few in my book meaning two (I think 2011 give that away a bit).
and YES I do have something to hide.
A Couple = 2
A few = 3 or more.
Perhaps if you have something to hide, = EMIGRATE lose yourself in a land that doesn't give a damn.

Only thing Im hiding is my Privacy. Do/should I not have a right to that.
Not to forget have you been detained at Her Majesty's pleasureDo you pay tax and NIC? Do you hold a driving licence? Do you have, or had, a mortgage, bank loan, item of furniture etc. on credit? Do you own or rent a house? Do you have children? If so, your details are already held on file by one department or another.

all it took was a quick google .. and you will find the questionnaire....

The idea is Mr D. they want to know just how many people are living in this country, but even so they may just have a slight problem with that because there are quite a few people here who no one actually knows who or where they areThanks for the link, However I don't think anywhere on there is shows the actual questions, just what may be in it.
Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. Exactly, So why should I HAVE TO fill a form in should I not have a option?

This is my point, If they only want to know how many people live in this country then why ask some of the questions they will ask, Income for exapmle.
So I dont fill the form in I get fined £1.000, Mr Poland down the street, doesnt even get a form and doesnt matter a dam to him but no fine coming his way.
What gets me is WHY IS IT COMPULSORY.
I understand that the Income question will not be asked in the 2011 Census, they would get too many pork pie answers if any and that would slow the process down.
Mr Poland down the street will have his collar felt if he does not comply with the law.
The Census in the UK has been on the Statute Book for a very long time and is here to stay.
The TV licensing authority has a record of every house in the UK and so has the UK Stats office which hopefully will be used to good effect at Census time.
You ask why is it compulsory........Jaysay answered you first time round...It is the Law of the land.
