Good it is about time the people selling to underage kids were brought to book.

It aint the 1st time this has happened at this shop

In the paper it's headline for it was laying the blame on the boozy teenagers

What a load of rubbish, nobody made the shop assistant sell to the teenagers

I read about this in the Telewag .... They say that the kids were intimidating the staff then nicking the booze and drinking it outside.

1) why were the police not called

2) why did they not have camera's installed to back this allegation up??

the only way to deal with teenage drinking, take away the licence of people who sel to under age youngsters

had to call in asda yesterday afternoon n was pleased to see the lass on the till asking 2 lads in front of me fer I.D. gotta say both looked about 20 to me, they produced the requested I.D. no fuss.:)

Asda have been very good on this front since they got caught in rawtenstall selling to under aged a while ago, but the shop on bold street i am told, have been doing this for ages, I viewed a house there, and a neighbour told me not to bother because the drunken teens were a nightmare at the bottom end.

i used to look alot older than i was (no cheeky remarks thankyou :p ) and i could buy alcohol at 14, at 15 i was working behind a bar and clubbing..the day before i turned 23 i was asked for id buying fags ( i had 4 kids with me and there is no way i look 15 now lol) yes they need to crack town on teenage drinkers but you have to remember that its hard to decided sometimes if the person looks old enough.. i have a friend that is 26, has 4 kids and looks 15 lol

thats the reason no-one should be offended if asked for I.D.;)

1) They were called. The incident was in the papers.

2) They did inside. They wouldn't outside because they didn't want the Police to see how many yobs were using their premises and what they were up to.

Residents and myself worked hard to get it closed. The Police supported us and submitted the application for closure.

Good for you Graham.
If complaints from the public were so strong why was a survelance unit or CCTV from the outside not set up to identify the yobs?
Is this not a case for rounding up the ones involved by the police and reading them the riot act?

This closure sounds like a blessing for all in the Bold Street area.

Shops that sell ale to kids are a real menace. I don't live anywhere near there but I'm still glad it's closed.

When I was young there were very few off licences, but I must admit that I was going in pubs hen I ws sixteen, mind you when your six fet four tall not many people check yur age. Plus in those days the police used to check pubs for underage drinkers and used to take landlords to court if they were caught serving them, you never here of that today

Beat me then derek.......last time I was asked my age was in Glasgow when I was 21......wasn't a bit amused

Peel's problem is crime/ASB moves so we needed a mobile camera which was refused by the local Council. (There is one now but for the rest of the Borough).

If you remember last year, The Conservatives took away the CCTV camera allocated to Peel and printed derogatory story in the newspaper against me and for Stan Horne in Rishton at election time - where Peel's only (fixed) camera allocation was moved to. (There are now 49 and still none in Peel) They think they are gaining an advantage over the Labour Party by doing this.

That camera would have helped prevent a lot of crime, saved countless police hours outside K's.

The enviromental health team have a waterproof, small suitcase sized, mains or battery operated piece of camera equipment which they can hide in bushes, or even bury!, to catch out flytippers and dog fouling.
You can watch and record without anyone knowing.
