Do you remember the Pickwick pub?

It was Accy's 1970's answer to today's Wetherspoons.

And yet another question, Bee.

Do you remember, if you left the Pickwick, turned right, and then walked diagonally across the carpark to come out on it's middle entrance on Union St, you came up right against the Accy Superloo? That was the thing that looked like the top half of a boiled egg, again sliced in half.

Well, I've been having an argument with a mate of mine. I say those loos were fitted out with Carrara Marble; he says Portland stone. Which one of us is right?

Please let Bee answer before anyone else jumps in.

The loos in question, for anyone too young to remember them.

Late wife left her handbag in those bogs, as she left a rather overweight skanker was goin in, she crossed the road n then realised n ran back..........No bag.........No skanker, her unopened wage was in it,as well as her purse.

shopping trips as a kid.

Same, and like me you were probably warned to stay away from them.

Apparently always old men hanging about in there.

Running their hands on the walls.

Discussing their hardness.

Asking people if they knew what it was, and if they wanted to touch it.

:eek::D:eek:

it was better --paid fer very few pints in yon.;):D

Yo Cashy....thread diversion...why don't me and you get into Wetherspoons one saturday afternoon and see how much we can drink for nowt? After all, no one would suspect two respectable looking gentlemen such as ourselves.

A fine excuse.

Everyone knows you're just itching to go in, and have a shufty.

;)

I don't need to go in,Rindy....I've been in about 30 or 40 of the damm places. They're all the same, barring a few piccys of what are the local celebs on the wall. Characterless and sterile, drinking in one of these holes is like drinking in a morgue. But if that's what you like, then good luck.

Personally not somewhere I'd choose to drink in either.

There was one in Tooting.

The only boozer we never went in.

Come to think of it, I think they might have done a bit of undertaking in there as a side-line.

The Accy one?

I'm just pleased, with so many pubs closing down, someone's using this town centre building, and spent money on it.

No doubt as usual you didn't do as you were told, I bet you told your mum you were going to a youth club.
