was walking home from school on friday at the back of some shops on union rd, with my son and noticed something lurking near the bins!!!.......yes it was a bloody RAT!!....OMG,scared0011.gif it had a bloody long tail and a scabby body, and the little vermin wasnt even scared to see us!!!, it just carried on doing what it was doing going in the shops back yard, i soon got out of that area and have never shoped in them shops since ....ewwwww:(

oh and its the first time iv seen a living rat run around the streets....scared0011.gif

If you dont like rats then dont consider living in Spring Hill - lots of cats up here but, believe me, the rats dont care. Problem has been much worse since this two weekly bin collection started

I nearly stiod on one once when I was coming out of the bank in Gt Harwood. It just looked at me and then strolled off down the ginnel.

i often pass through spring hill and i have to say I have never seen one...thank god!!, rats come where people leave food for them, cleaner back yards would be better...the amount of **** iv seen in peoples back yards, its disgusting, i would hate to think what their house looks like:(, and as for fortnightly bins, i have no problem with that;)

I think theres a saying that theres a rat never more than six feet away...erm i am not sure whether thats a real rat, or some scumbag:wacko8:

was staggering home on hyndburn rd, from church late 60s and one ran right across the road by the river stink, the cheeky blighter ran acoss my winklepickers,--- they can fly!:D

After dark, in the middle of Hyde Park Corner in London, there used to come out a pack of rats as big as cats.

I thought of buying a set of pipes to play, to lure them the twenty five feet into the garden of Buckingham Palace.:D

One day sunbathing in my back garden a rat ran out from underneath next doors shed and ran underneath the sunbed i was lying on then into the bushes at the back of my garden. Turned out we were in the middle of a rat run. One of the houses further on up the road bred budgies and the birdseed had fallen down through the cracks in the shed and there was a nest of rats underneath and they'd made a run through all the gardens on the estate backing onto this house oh and the house owner knew about this and had the pest control officer out but not said a word to anyone else about it - even though there were kids and old people in the vicinity.

Apparently that's true, rats are everywhere. My office car park backs on to an alleyway behind a row of shops in Warrington. Most of those shops are either restaurants or takeaways and I can tell you their back yards are full of rats (I don't eat there!). Environmental Health come along every now and then and get rid of them but they always reappear.

On an animal level I don't mind rats at all. They are fascinating to watch and, really, a bit like squirrels with bald tails and the females are very good mothers. I'm not scared of them but on the hygiene level they are a definite no-no and when one invades your garage as one, attracted by a neighbour's rabbits, did with me and chews big holes in your wellies for its nest (have you ever seen a pair of wellies like a collander?) it's time to call in the Council - good mother or not.

At a place I used to work we used to go out for lunch on a Friday and take a stroll across the stream to the pub on the other side. The times when we were sat in there and we would see them on the sides of the stream.

They could have been water rats or, more properly, water voles. They don't invade property like rats do and they are vegetarians. We have a lot of them on the banks of the canal here and they look very similar to the rat but their tails are furry, though thin. They are an endangered species.

I use,t to take my jack-russel ratting and he loved it but now with him getting on a bit i just let him get spider,s nower days.
