Not quite there...

Over the weekend, the builder has spent quite a bit of time at our house.
He has had to slot us into his very busy schedule....he is currently working on a barn conversion somewhere over Wigan way.....but he promised he would do the finishing off once the log burner was installed.
This is so that when the decorator comes back from his week long holiday, the work will be able to go ahead.......the chimney breast in the living room still needs to be papered and the woodwork still needs a lick of paint.
So although we are not quite there......I can see the home straight and (i think) the finishing line.
It has seemed a long time coming, but I have to tell myself that a lot has been done in the weeks of disruption.......and our home will be better for the work that has been completed.

Today I have ordered some curtains for the downstairs rooms.......I hope to be looking at rugs and furniture as well in the coming week.

What has been a dream over the last few weeks is coming into reality.
I am including a picture of the wood burner in the living room......Oak beam fitted, wall skimmed...now just waiting the finishing touches.

Two pictures of the fire blazing away...specially for you Gordon. Not brilliant pics as they were taken with my ipad...but I am sure you get the essence.
Pasha can't understand where the warm is coming from...she has been sitting on the radiator and found it was cold so she jumped on the oven...thinking it was that that was on......if she jumps on the log burner she will get a very singed ........erm...bum!
Just added a pic of Pasha toasting herself.

Margaret, when you have the wood burner lit can you post a photo of it.
I see 'himself' has his shoes there ready to warm them. I expect to see stockinged feet toasting when it's lit( yours, his or both)!

Gordon, there will be more pictures......especially when the work is completed...and the furniture is in.
Right now we have furniture in, but it is still pretty much like a cave with the walls plastered(although we do have most of the room papered with very neutral colour).
I keep on telling myself that the finished rooms will be amazing.....we'll see eh?

It is coming along very nicely....The work may complete next week sometime.
We are reliant on the walls drying....but we cannot accelerate this too much.
When the place is finished I will post pics......and I might even post the mess that was 'the before'.
Then you will really be able to see how far we have travelled.
