After recent comments regarding the state of the Crown Ground pitch after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Aldershot, Stanley’s next home game is against Macclesfield on August 21 and managing director Dave O’Neill hit back:
“There was an accumulation of things that probably put us back by a fortnight. The weather in East Lancashire certainly didn't help. We’ve got the pitch contractor coming back now for the next fortnight to put the final stages of work into it."
“When we did get it seeded it was the driest spell it could possibly have been and once the grass started growing it’s just been flooded. For the last five or six weeks we’ve had nothing but rain."
Mr O' Neil also said, “We did try to postpone the game last Friday but the Football League said it was our home fixture and it would give us an advantage later on if we had three home games in a row."
He added, “But the contractors have assured us that they can pull it around. “I’m told the drains take three months to get working and they’ve only had two. At which point the pitch should be in great shape.”
Stanley boss John Coleman added: “The pitch hampered us with the way it softened up. “But I think it will be all right. I think in a couple of weeks you’ll see a different pitch.”
Gotta say yonmon, it usually disappoints me reading the telegraph these days, hence why i very rarely buy it, they spout more crap than the picture ya posted, so i would say "Take It With A Pinch" thats my view anyway.![]()
Well with the media, if they aint got a 1st rate rascal, a second rate one will do, if they aint got that, the power of invention tends to come into play, so basically i can't say which rascal. But which rascal would feed them the 'crap' you speak of in the first place Cashy ?.
Surely no representative of Accrington Stanley would wish to confuse or mislead the Fans by releasing 'news' which might contain inaccuracies ?...

P.S.perhaps Alfred E knows?Well with the media, if they aint got a 1st rate rascal, a second rate one will do, if they aint got that, the power of invention tends to come into play, so basically i can't say which rascal.P.S.perhaps Alfred E knows?
Can't help it , is me background in the diplomatic circles, cultured as FOOT is our cashy.Do you realise that this is the most diplomatic answer you have ever posted Cashy !!!...

! People told me that there's been an awful lot of rain in Accy over the last 24 hours, quote]
Not that much, Stan. If it's bographggy after such a small amount of rain it makes you wonder how the new drains will ever cope with real downpours. I'm worried too, and have always thought that 70 grand would not be enough to get to the bottom of the historical problems.
Being somewhat surprised at seeing little or no information regarding 'Ilyas's Pitch' being released from official sources,( which having to have two demanding games played on it over the coming week, and the advanced weather reports of more rain to come, has rekindled my high-anxiety !)....
Apart that is from a brief allusion in our wonderful Lancashire Telegraph as to the change of venues for Reserve games ...Will someone in the know (nudge nudge....wink wink !), in an attempt to ease my worried mind, please post an accurate report on the current state of 'the hallowed turf '.
Also, sharing Redraines feelings, and hearing the many comments regarding extra financial support being given to ensure that 'Ilyas's Pitch' will reach an acceptable standard...I hope that this necessary funding has been seen and released as a vital investment by those holding the purse strings, and that JC will get the surface he would like to allow his Team to play his much-publicised 'passing-game'...He deserves this if nothing else !...
SO.... 'ON STANLEY !!...ON !!!'
