Pitch

Not really Cowboy !... for 'Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit ' (attributed to Oscar Wilde !)...and I would never stoop to employing it on our Forum !..call me a lover of Irony and Litotes if you like, but Sarcastic...never !.

( Alfred.E. points out that IRONY , Ms Irony Smith.. is the redhead three doors down !! ... )

Yes of course you are right my friend, however, would you not agree with my late father that although sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit it can also be the most satisfying :)

YES !!....and.... NO !!.....and like Cashy it would appear that your Father and I had similar outlooks on the vagaries of life !!..
But to return to the thread before Stanleymad tells me off again..I'm glad to hear that The Control Box is in situ..and
that the pitch is getting better every day !...all it needs is the embargo to be lifted, and for our esteemed Manager and his Assistant to put the finishing touches to a Team which will make us all proud !!...
'ON STANLEY...ON TO GREATER THINGS !!!'

i thought the pitch looked quite well on weds night, yet we heard a whisper about 2K n more seeding, or did i imagine this?:D

Someone with more knowledge than myself about such matters (see my posts about muck being the answer to all things horticultural !)...did mention the term 'OVERSEEDING',and that this process is what the pitch really needed to give it stability and durability ...which does sound like a rather costly exercise to me Cashy !.

( Alfred.E. says that reading this thread is like watching the grass grow !)

The original seeding took place during that dry spell. Despite the sprinkler system it must have been a nightmare to try and get it to germinate properly, and more importantly evenly

im sure no matter how it turns out come saturday, it will be a big improvement on last season and will aide our passing game.

agree, can't be much worse n last season, lookin forward to seeing how the team play on it.:)

Looks like Hessentahler at Gillingham hasn't heard about the new pitch. This is what he said when talking about one of his trialists;

Aborah is coming back from an 18-months on the sidelines with a groin injury.
"He can’t last the game at the moment but it was a difficult pitch for him (on Saturday) and it was a test to see what he was like on maybe an Accrington Stanley type pitch, no disrespect. Some pitches away from home would be like that and it was a test and I thought he did fine.

Maybe they play on a field that looks like it has just had this years potato crop grown in it and Aborah may find it hard to play on a pitch that looks like a snooker table!!!! :D :D :D

thanks for posting the video Sausage Butty (ya'd taste better with egg on your face), but i can safely say it was the most boring video I have ever seen!!!!!!

:D

I was up at the ground earlier on and got confused. it looks like a bowling green.:alright:Its really improved since sunday when i wen up. its playable now imo.:D

I too have been down today and it looks superb.

Just to let everyone know, Saturday's programme has a behind the scenes look at the work on the pitch - in words and pictures.

It's ASTONISHING to see the state it was in just a month or so ago and the amount of work that's gone into it...

Here's the Aldershot captains view

Aldershot begin their League Two promotion chase with a trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
"No disrespect but it's not a very nice ground to got to, but I'd rather go there on the first day of the season when hopefully the pitch is alright and we can play the way we want to," said Charles.
