Not actually Blackburn Rd. Accrington but Blackburn Rd. Rising Bridge, Many years ago there used to be a pub at bottom of Hazel Street (opposite Hollands) does anyone know what it was called or how I can find out, It was probably more than 60 years ago.

Cashman or Wynonie are the best bet for answers.. (both about 95yrs old..give or take a few years)

The only one i can think of is the Rising Bridge Working Mans Club and that was on Hazel Street but it was at the top it closed in the early 90's. Its now a house. Never heard of one across the road from Hollands. There used to be a shop and then the row of cottages and bash methodist church across the road from Hollands, and on the same side as hollands there was a shop at the end of the row of houses.

Also delving into my file on Rising Bridge which i did 25 yrs ago which does have some history of rising bridge in it.

There was the Beehive pub further down than hollands.not sure what year it closed, its now a house

knew i shouldnt have got this out - studying ordanance survey maps of 1844 and 1912 for baxenden and rising bridge!!!! Found a list of all the mills in rossendale in this

the house at the top fo alliance st opposite the beehive pub
was also a pub it stands alone on yhe left side going into
rising bridge im sure both were shut in the early 60s
cant remember them being open i used to work at acre mill

I know about Rising Bridge Working Mens Club also the two at top of Alliance St. Beehive on one side of road The Railway on the other both now houses. the one I am on about was def at bottom of Hazel St.

corner house on Hazel St used to be a pub. The end house and I think the two next to it were all one at one time. They split them up into houses. Thats why the end one is so small, it is what was left over after they made the other two. When we lived there it was where they had kept the barrels. On the side of the house it had slates advertising. I can't remember what it had been called. It was never a pub in our lifetime though. Other than that that ****** said he doesn't know, Above received from a reliable source

Hadn't noticed that - cheeky young whippersnapper! Even I don't remember a pub there, although I do recall the house at the top of Alliance Street with the Beehive nameplate being a boozer, alas, before I was old enough to take advantage of it.
