Re: "Save Our Stanley"

Accrington Stanley to play Blackburn Rovers to help pay off tax bill (From Lancashire Telegraph)

So we're going put the money set aside for running costs into the HMRC fund and hope we recoup it in a friendly against Rovers in November?

The phrase "robbing Peter to pay Paul" springs to mind.

Anything rather than grasp the nettle and talk to Ilyas.

Don't think the club did either - wasn't the figure they released was 35 grand?

Re: "Save Our Stanley"

5000 people at a tenner each was £50k, lazy journalism though as it doesn't take concessions and running costs into consideration

whilst this release from the club is welcome overdue perhaps, if it comes to pass the offer from another local club is more than welcome! however i fail to see how the revenue raised from the game, plus the other events to take place, along with donations, can ever equate to 230K approx. if anyone can please explain to me? therefore its time fer the club to "Come Clean" and tell the fans HOW?

SO SIMPLE REALLY !!!....'QUO VADIS STANLEY???'

ps. Alfred.E. says 'I've got the knack...anyone want to borrow it??'

Bull **** springs to mind; negligence may too strong a word at the moment but we are well on the way. Events at Hyde United serve only to emphasise just how close this situation is to tears. Please will you people running Accrington Stanley take a fresh look at what you are doing; there’s nothing new being brought forward other than the inevitable end to the club should you keep to this current path…

You Can Not Seriously believe that the current Action Plan is working, please for the sake of the clubs name and the faith of the fans Stop Now and consider working with Mr. Khan and get this debt cleared now…..don’t wait until October, get it paid and the supporters along with the club with the assistance of Mr. Khan can carry on working to raise funds for the long term survival of Accrington Stanley.

Mr. O’Neil, Mr. Hayes please…we know you believe that your doing the right thing now; but we can see that you’ve not quite got it right….if you don’t change direction it will be too late.

Re: "Save Our Stanley"

[Lazarus said: “At the moment the club is somewhat undersold. I know that with some positive involvement we can really develop the name and the brand of Accrington Stanley.”

A series of fund-raising initiatives have been launched with Premier Division Burnley helping to raise £50,000 from gate receipts from a friendly.

Co-chairman David O’Neill said: “Marcelle has a lot of experience in dealing with clubs and footballers at all levels, and will be a valuable addition to our board."]

Now might be a good time to stop being happy and positive and just get some bloody work done. Less about you and more graft just might get us some way to getting out of the ****.

I agree 1000% Please don't hang on until its to late do something now and save this club. You all knew the debt when you took over and if you can't clear it please don't let pride get in the way and let the club go under.

you have to read between the lines Jen, the article also mentions that The Don had targetted £50k per week .... and we are three weeks into a (hoped for) six week campaign.
