mobile problem, help!!

hello
i wonder if anyone could help.
Last week i dropped ,my fone down the toilet, yeah i know stupid but i didnt do it on purpose, anyway i picked the fone up, open it, dried it and let it on radiator overnight. but still not working. It a samsung g600 and its not older than couple of months, is a contract fone and because i dont have insurance they cant replace it ( obviously).
Does anyone know what can i do, i really need the fone and cant afford to buy one.

Hehe i did that with mine after taking it to bits i let it dry out over night the only difference between yours and mine is mine is a cheap sagem only cost £25 and it works perfectly

i didnt want to take it apart in case i made it worse, the fone lights up but yesterday didnt switch on, when it did on sunday as i went to put my pin number the numbers dont work

You need to dry it for a lot longer than 1 night before powering it up, unfortunately you may have now damaged it beyond repair as water and tiny electronics don't mix very well.

You can check if your house insurance covers it ( it covers tvs' radios etc so why not a mobile). My Bank account actually gives us mobile phone insurance amongst other things ( car breakdown, will writing, emergency assistance, travel insurance + more) for a few quid a month. it works out a lot cheaper than doing all these things seperately.

all you can really do is find an old mobile to see you on whilst you get to the end of this contract or save up and buy something decent s/h.

Don't know what to suggest Yolanda.......I did it once in the Stag...opened it dried it out and it worked perfectly...good luck

my friends husband works on o2 and she said they wont do nothin

They can tell phones that have been water damaged. I believe they now have markers inside that change colour once "wet" so they can immediately tell.

do you not have home contents insurance ? accidental damage ? if you do then it may be covered by that

I dont own my house but still have contents insurance (which does cover against accidental damage), just not buildings insurance

You don't have to own your house to insure your contents.

So if you have a fire or are broken into you would loose everything?

I know i posted this in another similar thread but put your mobile phone into a box that has a lid fill it full of rice and put the lid on - leave it for at least 24 hous. The rice will drag out any excess moisture that is in the phone - as others have said you may have done the damage as it may have shorted when you switched it on. but its worth a try

tried that one, didnt work, if anything it made it worse
i thought u have to own a property to get insurance, im gonna look into getting one( its never too late)

You should keep those little bags of silica gel that come with electronic items and other things that might be damaged by condensation (our storybook albums come with them) as sucking up water is what they are designed for...

It's not good for your stomach, though, so keep them out of the reach of children.
