I find this really quite fascinating ... back around 1990, I bought myself a couple of Taxis and really enjoyed my time in the industry. Now I am down to one and still enjoy going out on the road. I don't know how it works in Accy, but in Kingston all the cabs are privately owned. The companies provide, for a fee called Stand Rent, dispatch services, etc. The local Taxi commission takes care of licensing, vehicle inspections, fare rates etc. We very rarely experience problems that you guys seem to have.
Not to long ago, there was an article in the local rag about cabbies. The title was: "Cabbies, You Can Trust Them; but Can They Trust You"? Just a few thoughts on something I find interesting and confusing. |
