That was Rowland Joynson. He spelt his surname with a y rather than an i although I think they may have been the same family. I think he published some books on the local area as well.

No. Miles away from there. This is the track that runs along the side of the Hyndburn from Lower Barnes Street to Whalley Road, so the very bottom end of Clayton. The Hare and Hounds pub is at the...

My mother used to call it goin' round th'ounds as well. Don't know what the origin of that is.
