According to the Observer, John's funeral is at 1.30 today, not 1.00 as previously thought.

I imagine because of The Black Bull pub, which was in this area. It was where the back entrance to our car park is, directly facing Hyndburn Road.

To help folk "get their bearings" look at the 2nd photo on posting 179, page 12. If you cast your eyes over the rooftop of Spring Mill, to the right you will see the roof with "James Walmsley"...

No its not Wadey. Wrong corner! You are showing the corner higher up the street, i.e. corner of Little Blackburn Road and Bank Street.

and yes, Katex is correct, the stand was erected in Peel Street for the 1913 visit of King George and Queen Mary.

and do you know, without checking, I always thought the Slaters Arms was where a murder was committed, at the corner of Whalley Rd and Broadway, now no longer there.

High Riley Cottages still exist? Course they do. Know its not mega important, but that date of 1625 just doesnt sound correct. Am sure its 1628.
