There once was a time when ONLY PUBS could sell alcohol.
I recall passing the door of The Heys Inn in my childhood and a 'selling out' hatch was visible in the vestibule entrance. The demise of public houses began when supermarkets started selling it, and the smoking ban was the last straw. |
