No it isn't pointless not to sign, that is a choice we all have, what is pointless is getting upset about the red stuff.

Yes, I agree it is pointless getting upset about the red stuff....but if I give the red stuff I want the person to know that I have the courage of my convictions to sign it....and if they want to retaliate by conferring some of the red stuff onto me...then that tells me a lot about them.

At the risk of seeming a bit thick -how do you actually give people Karma -I can't seem to work it out? I have received it twice which was a nice surprise but I didn't actually know what it meant...

On the left hand side of each post(under your name and avatar) there are three icons..... A circle which is green if you are online...grey if you aren't. A Pair of scales....if you click on this it will give you the option of giving good Karma(green stuff)....or not so good Karma(red stuff).
The exclamation mark in a warning triangle is to report posts which you feel are inappropriate or infringe the rules of the forum(Swearing jumps to mind as an example of what I mean).

At the bottom of each post are three little icons.

The middle one is scales.

Click on that, to give or take karma.

Steady on young lady.

There are all sorts of karma rules. Such as how much you can give out in a day, how many other people you must give some to, before you're able to give it to the same person again.

I can never work it out.

Its not about having the courage to sign it, who cares if they know its you. Its about annoying them even more by not signing it. People get all stressed about getting red and not signing it annoys them more.

How many times have you seen someone moan because they got red and it was not signed.

I care that people know that it was me who gave them Karma.....and it really isn't about annoying someone. That is probably why I have given out so little of the red stuff.
Yes....I think I once fell into the trap of moaning about having been some negative stuff without it being signed.(this was because I knew who had done it and felt it was unwarranted - the person thought I had given them some unsigned red stuff...which I hadn't, and was playing tit for tat. I don't believe that is the spirit of Karma).
