Someone sent me a christmas pressy frpm England. - "Forgotten English" by Jeffrey Kacirk. (very English name!!) It's a pack of cards with very strange English words on one side and the explanation (and much more) on the other side.
Example: Do you know what 'forswunke' means.
I've really enjoyed reading them. )I bet Cashman would understand most of them!!
If anyone is interested, I can send some of them on. I think they'd be great for pub quiz questions

Im currently reading a biography of Fred Dibnah by David Hall. Its only when Ive gone a little deeper into his life than the TV programmes do that Ive realised the depth of his knowledge about many different subjects relating to all aspects of engineering.

A topic of current news interest
Madeleine McCann: The Forbidden Investigation
A downloadable free book about which the libel case revolves.
I am 3/4 way throught it.
It certainly gives a new slant on the child's disappearance.

"The light side of Damnation" Vietnam Autobiography of Capt. William.F.Lee U.S. Marines, not all blood and gore, but humorous and light anecdotes about his Platoon, troops and life in the Nam.
