Since the last entry, "Phantom warriors book 1" edited & compiled by Gary.A.Linderer ex LRP of the 101st Airborne Div. F Coy.58th Inf, a compilation of short stories covering various LRP, LRRP & Ranger units that served through the Vietnam war.

Also John.C.Burnam's Book "A Soldier's best friend" this is his story of time served initially with the 1st Cav Div as an infantryman, then after being wounded his return to Vietnam but as a Scout Dog handler & his time & bond with his Dog.

Now reading "Phantom Warriors book 2" again Gary.A.Linderer same ol' same ol' as book one

The first of Two Keith Floyd autobiographies...."Out of the Frying Pan"...Pretty good so far!

Now onto "The Boer War" Thomas Pakenham. How the British army became embroiled in the South African Campaign in 1899, & were taught a lesson by "Dutch Farmers" from the Transvaal & Orange Free State.

Agree a good read, a good follow up to the Pakenham book if interested in Africa at that time is "the Founder" Cecil Rhodes and the pursuit of power , Robert L Rotberg.

Also " Fighting the Fuzzy-Wuzzy" (Days and Nights of the Service with Sir Gerald Graham's Field force at Suakin) Major E.A. De Cosson.

Just Me by Sheila Hancock. Follow-up book to the biography of her late husband, John Thaw. Reasonably interesting and an easy read but the problem is that you find yourself wishing there were more references to Thaw than there are. This is essentially a travelogue of a widow and it does tend to get a bit morally-preachy in places when harking back to the Second World War but Hancock herself comes across as a very interesting woman.

Re-reading "The Hobbit" (again) by J.R.R.Tolkien, I don't think a synopsis is really necessary. :)

In my research into nutrition I have discovered this free e book

d'Adamo, Peter J - Eat Right for Your Type - Blood Groups

I am blood group B.
I have only part read/browsed it yet, but what I have read makes sense when I recall which foods I have a sluggish reaction to, and those which I instinctively avoid.

I am surprised to find that chicken is mildly toxic for me, but turkey and pheasant are fine.
That is just one of many snippets of dietary advice aimed at blood group B.

I am going to give the recommendations a try.
Nothing ventured - nothing gained.

Thanks Margaret for reminding me about this book.
Some time ago I translated the B group(from this book) into Italian for a friend and he has followed it scrupulously.
However, I tried it for for a few weeks(I'm A group) but I just couldn't give up my dairy products(especially milk!) and the cheeses I love most, I wasn't supposed to eat!
I really hope you have better luck

but he does say alter the diet gradually so I will have time to finish the bottle:D

Well Bilbo's adventures are finished for the time being & I'm now about to come back to something more modern "The World according to Clarkson" that being Jeremy Clarkson of "Top Gear".

The last book was good fun, raised a few chuckles about to start "The World according to Clarkson 2". If it's like the first I'll be enjoying it. thing about them is they're broken down into manageable chunks so if you've got a spare 5 minutes you can read a chapter as & when, without having to try & remember where you left off.

Just finished re-reading the Axis of Time trilogy by John Birmingham. Alternate history, but really well done. Just waiting to see if my Dad buys his latest, Without Warning.
That's a subtle hint Dad!

The words 'Alternate History' grabbed my attention, so I looked for more info.

WW2 may be history to you but it is early life for me ;)

I like to read alternative history but it has to be ancient (nearly like me)
