I have finished The Time Traveller's Wife very poignant and thought provoking.
I have also just finished Angela Huth's Land Girls and Philippa Gregory's The Little House.
Thoroughly enjoyed Land Girls...it is about the Women's Land Army during the war.
A good read but I finished it very quickly.

So pleased I saved Armistead Maupin's latest Tales of the City book, Mary Ann in Autumn, for six months.

An absolute joy.

I limited myself to a chapter a day on the beach. Otherwise I'd have devoured it all in a couple of hours.

Struggling to finish "Persuasion" - my New year's resolution was to read more classical literature starting with Austen. Thought it would be easier than the usual attempt at a diet -not so!! After that just Emma and Northanger Abbey and i will have re-read all six. Have just finished watching a DVD of Lost in Austen which was quite funny. After that I have the book "One Day" lined up which my cousin and her husband recommended recently -any thoughts? Another friend told me it's a bit "obvious" and lined up to make another "Rom-com" film -probably with Hugh Grant...
Another friend recommends a "Kindle" but they seem a bit expensive -the major problem with penguin Classics is the size of the print - a bit small for us who have poor eye-sight (that's my excuse for being slow!) .

On a kindle you can change the size of the font.
I got mine off E-bay....it was a real bargain. I was sceptical about a kindle at first, but they are good. Many of the classics you can download at no cost too
I still read conventional paperbacks as well.

Just finished "When God was a Rabbit" by Sarah Winman.

Very good book, had me laughing and crying. Its her first book and I saw it on play.com for £3 so thought I would try it for that price.
Will be looking out for any other books that she might bring out.

Anyone who wants to borrow it is more than welcome, it is readable in a couple of days though!

Two years ago I gave hundreds of books to charity, not only in support of mum who had a stroke, but also because the room I kept them in was beginning to smell like a musty old bookshop! Because I am an avid reader, I am seriously thinking of getting a Kindle. I have read a separate thread on here about the Kindle, and it would seem they get a huge thumbs up.

I have to say I was the biggest sceptic going on these e-readers......but I am converted. I take my Kindle with me on the bus, it is slim, light and slips easily into my handbag.
I can alter the font size to something that suits me......it is readable even in the brightest sunlight...even better than a book because you don't get the glare from a white page.
Best of all I can read it in bed at night....because it doesn't make my reading arm go to sleep.
