Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
Reading the series of books, A Song of Ice & Fire by George R.R. Martin. Four books; Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows. First book has also been serialised on Sky Atlantic and the second book has just started on same channel. Just about keeping ahead of the televised version. Great books which I have managed to download (all four) to my phone (for free), so I can read them virtually anywhere - battery allowing.

Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
i have been wondering if there is audiobook versions of game of thrones....the series is quite good and, well-- Usually the Book version is better than the film version

Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
Yes, there is, but it is a bit pricey......Amazon have it for £23 and some odd pence.
It might be worth looking on flea bay. |

And for at least the twentieth time, "A Canticle for Leibowitz" ... I'm addicted to that book. I think that tomorrow I'll get back into "Memoirs of a Foxhunting Man" ... for about only the eigth time:o:)

Just finished Ken Follet's 'Fall of Giants', a hefty tome but well worth the read. The sequel: 'Winter of the World' is due out in September. Will make a request to Santa!

Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
Dissolution by C.J. Sansom a medievel murder mystery set in the reign of Henry the 8th(can't do roman numerals:)).......nefarious deeds done in a monastery......Murders most foul and the Vicar General (Cromwell) leaning on the monasteries to get their land and their wealth.
It sounds dull, but it isn't. I have nearly finished it.......am rationing myself with this one. |

Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
I like the CJ Sansom books...It is a trilogy......and of course I read them in the wrong order.
Revelation was a bit hard to get into...that was my first foray into the trilogy. Then I read and enjoyed Sovereign....and now I am at the bum end of Dissolution.(I shall be sorry when it is finished) The set of books was a gift from a friend who knows I like historical fiction. |
Re: Bookworms: What are you reading at the moment?
I haven't read Cadfael........I am put off by the TV series which had Derek Jacobi in it....I really like to picture the characters myself, and once I have seen a TV depiction, I find it difficult to overcome their characterisation...it is daft I know.
I always prefer to read the books before I see a dramatisation of the story. |
