The Kindle can play MP3's and can show pics, though not in colour...yet.
In the Us they have brought out a touch screen colour version of the Kindle...it is thought that it will be launched here some time next year.

The colour Kindle released in the States is called the Kindle Fire, which I think doubles as an internet tablet.

Bernard, you can get Karl Marx's "Das Capital" for 86p on kindle. Surely, that should be a clincher for you! ;)

I've got a copy somewhere. Although just moved house, and I've got rid of lot of my books. Which is one of the reasons for getting a kindle. The records went as well unfortunately.

Definitely worth getting one then. You can have a library of 3,500 books on a device small enough to fit into your pocket. Go for it!

If your still wondering about getting a kindle nip to your local paper shop and buy a copy of "Webuser" mag i get this every 2 weeks and funnily enough there is a write up about the kindle and the new colour kindle fire (not available in this country yet)
there is also one called the kindle keyboard.

I have just been looking on E-bay and there are the New Kindle Fire for sale at £109 with a cosy of 18.99 for shipping...it is an auction so it may go higher...but it is close to ending.

Received as a Christmas present "Accrington Stanley the club that wouldn't die" :) Also "Round the bend" by Jeremy Clarkson, which I'll read when I've finished the Stanley book.

Received as a Xmas Present from a friend : The original and bestselling guide to The Oxford of Inspector Morse. Not that much to read really but some great photos of old haunts and one which shows my first year rooms up above Blackwell's bookshop on Broad St.

The Sister by Paola Kaufmann -open at page 96 on my bed-side table for the last 3 months.

Persuasion by Jane Austen open at page 103 on coffee table for the same length of time -need to change my specs!

A sort of steam punk-ish comedy

Goodwin, Cliff. Evil Spirits
A biography of Oliver Reed.

Brandreth, Giles. Oscar Wilde and the Dead Man's Smile/ Oscar Wilde and the Ring of Death.
Oscar Wilde as detective. Very inventive, quite amusing and surprisingly well written.

Adams, Guy. Sherlock Holmes and the Breath of God.
Not as good as it could have been.

Pryce, Malcolm. From Aberystwyth With Love
Strange, wry, classic noir fiction set in Aberystwyth.

Crispin, Edmund. Holy Disorders
Murder mystery from 1946, very funny and very complex.

McKenna, Neil. The Secret Life of Oscar Wilde
Shocking and tawdry but somehow not surprising.

Holdstock, Robert. Ancient Echoes
Myth making at its best. Erudite and gripping.

Lee, Vernon. Supernatural Tales
Can still raise a shudder a century after they were first published.

Onions, Oliver. The Dead of Night
More Edwardian Horror

Newman,Kim The Hound of the D'urbervilles
A parody of Conan Doyle with a darker twist.

I am awaiting delivery of -
'Worlds in Collision' and 'Earth in Upheaval',
both by Immanuel Velikovsky.

Meanwhile I read 'Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming' by Stephen LaBerge & Howard Rheingold.

You label me as 'weirdo' but I am just 'different';)

Well isn't that odd and sort of, slightly, spooky?

Not only do we have tap dancing in common but La Berge/Rheingold is on my Amazon wish list!
