I don't know John.
My auntie Phyllis used to frequent the place.......I can remember her getting 'done up to the nines' to go....spending most of Saturday in curlers and a headscarf.......lots of powder and perfume......red peepie toe high heels(they impressed me the most)....stiff starched net underskirts.......all this effort went into the night out at the Ritz.......I figured it must be quite a place to go......but never could dance so I never ever found out. Maybe someone will be along in a minute to answer that thorny question John. |

I can,t answer the the ?s about the Ritz but the hair in curlers brought the memories flooding back. We used to go down town on a Sat affy wi our hair in curlers an a headscarf on and have an oxo in the market.I also remember getting my 1st net underskirt a yellow one it got ripped to shreds in the Funhouse at Blackpool.

the little crown pub was were funnies night club was,it was a massey house in the early 60,s then it shut down then dave miller bought it and changed it into funnies,for all the oldies,morts used to be next door,as did the old accy boxing cliub,the big crown pub is on whalley road near to asfc ground
