ok then how easy is it to get home to burnley or trawden etc, from blackburn? its bad enough getting to ossy or accy fer some, coarse some wont consider those sort of things, so long as its cost effective.

It affects the people in Pendle more than those in Burnley. I'd be interested to see the comments of those who don't make it an emergency because of the extra 15-30 minutes they would take because they have to go to Blackburn rather than Burnley. Oh hang on a minute we won't be able to ask them will we

One death because of the extra time taken is the only statistic required to show the system is inadequate. Do we have to wait for that statisitic to happen, if it hasn't already.

Exactly.
It seems saving money is more important than saving lives.
I wonder if they did release any statistics about the new service if they would be honest about any fatalitites?

Surely the best thing all round is for the patient to be being treated in hospital not the back of an ambulance?
I hope that eventually sense will prevail and the A&E will return to Burnley.

Don't underestimate the Paramedic...they are well qualified to deal with the reqiurements of modern medicine.

Absolute rubbish, couldn't be further from the truth. It is this present Labour government that made the changes.

I'm not underestimating them at all,i know they are greatly qualified and capable but not everything can be treated in the back of a speeding ambulance surely?
All i was trying to say was i would feel better being treated at hospital rather than in an ambulance.
My cousin is a paramedic and i know what a wonderful job she does so i would never call them.

And we will have to ask the people that were saved due to this new system too Lancsdave ... we just don't know yet do we.

Re: Have your say

The ambulances have got to have a paramedic on board these days, not just an ambulance person. If it went back to how it was before would we have the specialist equipment in each hospital? Ideally we would have all the neccessary equipment at both hospitals but doubt that will ever happen!!

Re: Have your say

I have no doubt people have been saved by this new system but if one person has died due to it then that is one too many imo.

I agree with what you say but without adequate treatment in the ambulance you may not make it anyway.

You are right that these folk are very well qualified to deal with their role in life.

The problem as I see it is that everyone was stating over and over that time was of the essence, patients need top notch care ASAP
Paramedics were trained accordingly, given state of the art equipment and ambulances, then the idiots in charge moved the goal posts an started doing hospital closures. That equates to longer trips in an ambulance.

Some git saw an opportunity to save some cash…give that man a pat on the back “Well done” :(

Because the one was projected as being SUPPOSEDLY better than the two.
