Re: Have your say
I know at one time, they used to hand out a questionnaire about your stay in hospital to all patients on entry. I am going back about 10/12 years though Bernie, when my daughter worked on the wards. Used to really naff her off, as they used to complain about the tiniest of things, like 'got my tea and was going cold'. This was one my daughter received, and she is a hard worker; problem was every complaint, no matter how small had to be addressed. Looks like they realised this and that is possibly why they now do a random postal one.
As to the doctor complaining straight to the press, feel that any employer, in any sector, wouldn't be too pleased if an employee did this. |

Yes can see where you are coming from with some folk who would complain just for the sake of it Kate, was just an idea. What really gets me is the staff do work hard and I would never dispute that but the hospital is desperately understaffed. This issue needs redressing urgently for the patients welfare and the staff morale

So you're saying they're getting given warnings for giving honest opinions, to whom? |

Report in tonights Telegraph that the hospitals are quite often running on "Red Alert", apparently there are various ways of coding it and if on red seems there are bed shortages. Not sending very good signals to the public when ops are being cancelled and people being sent home to early.

I don't know....they said that only certain wards were on red alert not the whole hospital but you don't know what to believe. Staff seem to be saying one thing and the management another. I'm inclined to believe the staff myself. |

Re: Have your say
There are bed shortages because beds are saved for precisely that reason Bernadette. Its not because of the move however, they have always been short of beds in recent years. During the move wards were closed as they moved elsewhere. In my opinion this was an error, as an expansion could have taken place. They should be reopened as new wards to tackle the problem that existed then and still exists now.

Re: Have your say
What really baffles me is where all the money is going. Why are they having to merge hospitals? Why can't they afford to keep the two? Why is there no doctor on wards in Pendle at nights?
We are told this government has pumped billions and billions and billions of pounds into the NHS. Figures are fired off by Mr Brown, about how many new nurses, how many new doctors we have. Where the heck is it all? Everyone I spoke to said the place was better 10 years ago. |
