Re: What a cheek!!!

well watched real story and what a damn cheek these councils have what it all really boils down to is them screwing us for more money ..what got me about the programme wer they say they cant afford weekly collections yet they can waste money on employing people to go around trying to catch the residents who have left rubbish in thier alley purely because the council wont take it . ok fine the ones who fly tip by all means but why cant they either supply bigger bins or do a weekly general rubbish collection.
one family on there last night were doing all they possibaly could to recycle and still had general rrubbish left that couldnt fit in there wheelie bin , surely this tells its own story ?why cant they just sit up and listen to the people who matter ? but no thats too easy for them they would rather accuse us of being dim and make out its our fault we dont recyclye properly because we dont understand the bumph they sent to us .........what a load of trout

It's stupid too when you think that all this recycling lark is supposed to be because we are saving the environment but people end up having to take their own rubbish to the very tip where the councils refuse to take it, and that means more polution with all the private cars going there instead of just the bin wagons, not to mention waste of fuel in those cars too.

that was also mentioned in last nights programme willow , make you wonder if the councils are just using all this green thing now to line thier own pockets

Did you see the size of one of the council 'experts', talk about a fat cat? There was just enough space around him to see that they where filming at a tip.

I think when he finally throws his suit away that will create a land fill problem all by itself.

Re: What a cheek!!!

The recycling collectors very generously gave me a green bag for textiles yesterday. I have never thrown a textile way in my life. If it's useable it goes to a charity shop. If it isn't it gets cut up for rags. I wonder if they will now be monitoring the fact that I never put a green bag out.

I wouldn't bother putting your green bag out at all Willow, they don't get collected. After several weeks of putting out my bag, and having to fetch it in again due to it not being collected, I rang the council. I explained the situation and that none of the bags on our street were being collected. We were promised faithfully that they would be collected at the next re-cycling collection.

I put my bag out and went away for the weekend. When I came back, the bag was still there advertising the fact that my house had been empty all weekend. I then e mailed the council waste people giving details of the phone call and the lack of collection. I sent a copy of the e mail to Graham Jones. Within a couple of days someone came knocking on our doors (I was out at the time) and they arranged the collection of our bags. It was too late for mine, I had taken the stuff to the re-cycling point at Asda but at least some of the elderly neighbours got their bags shifted.

At the next friday collection 2 green bags were left out by neighbours...They were not collected. I give up  Save yourself some hassle and take your shoes and textiles to Asda, it's quicker..

Judging by the dumped empty bags here yesterday if I did put one out and it got emptied it would probably just blow away in the wind.

Re: What a cheek!!!

So it looks like the various councils will go ahead with this bin bug scheme once they get the go ahead from the government.

However there is a problem. My black wheelie bin is larger than the standard and thus will weigh more and some people have smaller bins than standard and they will weigh less than the standard. When they weigh the bin the total weight will probably be recorded and the weight of the standard bin will be deducted to arrive at the nett weight of the rubbish. So unless our esteemed council have taken into account that some people have different sized bins I could end up paying for rubbish that isn’t actual rubbish but my bin. Conversely others will get some of their rubbish taken away for free.

We all know that a portion of our Council Tax goes to finance the rubbish collection. I assume that it will be reduced pro rata. Yeh! And pigs might fly.

Then there is the situation of all those who have their Council Tax paid because they are on benefits. How will they be treated? Badly I should imagine.

On one of the very rare occasions when I was up and about when the binmen came round, as I shuffled towards my car one binman said to me, “Where’s yu bin?”

I replied, “I’s bin here all the time. Where’s you bin?”
