I think some of you got the wrong end of the stick. He wasnt saying that a single parent can't bring up a perfectly well behaved child that fits right in with society, he was saying that a lot of the reasons for it is the breakup of family, not the absolute reason.

Life isnt black and white..

We may have got the wrong end of the stick and all isnt light and dark but whether it be a single parent co habs married seperated etc if a parent of either sex has time for their child to listen help guide advise and its done without aggro and intimidation (shouting temper fits) then a child will grow up well adjusted. The parent needs to avoid spoiling cowing down ignoring or palming of onto others as well as the child will feel unwanted and more likely to "derail" at some point. Sadley nowadays even kids with 2 parents might not see them as much as they want to or need to due to them working.

Its ironic that some of the best behaved kids I know are brought up by one parent so are not mollicoddled spoilt or ignored. Their parent has a part time job so there is not a real shortage of money and they value what they have. On the flip side the ones that get what they want when they want it reguardless of the price are the ones that can cause more trouble because they dont have a guiding influence other than the "gang" they run with. End result can bee seen at wekends.

Here Here!! well said Spuggie:D

Maybe Mr Cameron wants to trade places with a lone parent as did did another x mp for an experimental programme it was quite enlightening [i cant remember his name now altziemers again]

As has been said its regardless of family situation but how families deal with their problems & parenting that does as has spuggie has explained also the fact of discipline being exchange for rights & no clear distinction for parents as to discipline & control wihtout fear of being in trouble for parenting! Society is partially to blame for sitting back with acceptance - 50years ago they didnt & that kept social behaviour in control where now it isnt. Lack of social skills & life skills being taken over by other unimportant lessons in school for those especially if homelife dont encourage it or lack of good example.
