I find this really quite fascinating ... back around 1990, I bought myself a couple of Taxis and really enjoyed my time in the industry. Now I am down to one and still enjoy going out on the road. I don't know how it works in Accy, but in Kingston all the cabs are privately owned. The companies provide, for a fee called Stand Rent, dispatch services, etc. The local Taxi commission takes care of licensing, vehicle inspections, fare rates etc. We very rarely experience problems that you guys seem to have.

Not to long ago, there was an article in the local rag about cabbies. The title was: "Cabbies, You Can Trust Them; but Can They Trust You"?

Just a few thoughts on something I find interesting and confusing.

My Hubby is a Taxi driver and its awful that they are sometimes all tarred with the same brush. Hopefully this will divide the crap from the good.

It's a bit rich that Shotgun, formerly Stan the monkey, and convicted of sexually assaulting someone under the age of sixteen, has signed the petition.

Has this man no shame? He seems to revel in his sad noteriety.

2nd cabbie who got to keep his licence pleaded guilty to both assaults & was ordered to go on the sex offenders register adjorns till July but1st taximans licence is still vaild despite conviction not spent till 2011! accy observer.
