Yeah, great to have Clare here.:)

With Graham Jones, and Greg Pope now on board, that's our Labour M.P., the leader of Labour party on Hyndurn Council, and now another Labour councillor as well, who are using the biggest, and best used local forum.

Where are all the others?

Come on you Tories, Liberals, and independents!

We know the Tory henchmen use the site, but why don't the other councillors use Accy Web to converse with the people they represent? Is it too much of a risk compared with using a column in the Observer, because we can more easily respond?

Labour are leading the way yet again.

It's time for the rest of the councillors in Hyndburn to catch up with the modern world.;)

(...and the best thing about voicing your thoughts here, as opposed to other poorly used local forums, is that it didn't cost the tax payer nearly half a million quid to set up.:D)

I hope he's ok as well.

We may have totally differing political points of view, but as a man I have the utmost respect for him.

That's the thing about democracy, and this forum, we may disagree with each other, but we will always listen to the other's point of view.

Peter, less quotes in your Observer column about what's been said on 'a local internet forum' please. It's time to speak to the people.

Maybe the Conservative councillors are too scared to register as members. In a way this site is the voice of the people and if they had any sence they would join and learn something. Its easy to bash a tory as they aint here to defend themselves apart from the "true blue" members we already have. All they need and the same goes for the Libdems and Indies is a representative to defend their corner.

Can we have a recruit a councillor day???

Re: More Councillors on site

The thing is that it's not even a case of defending the Tories or putting over the blue case - it's actually a case of being able to set the record right on council decisions.

It's very easy to read things in the paper and believe something that may not necessarily be 100% correct - we would like to know the facts if we're judging on incorrect information.

She is female, it's a shame you need the other persons consent though. :(

Re: More Councillors on site

If this site is biased in any way at all it is biased in favour of the electorate. The hard-pressed, hard-working folk of the borough who put politicians of whatever stripe where they are.

I applaud Graham, Greg and now Claire for having the courage and the courtesy to make themselves members of the forum and engage with their constituents. I know that they don't always get an easy ride, but hey that's half the fun of being a politician - isn't it?

I am, frankly, disgusted with the Conservative Group, that they do not have the courage and simple courtesy shown by some of their Labour counterparts. They do the Conservative cause no favours at all. Sniping from the sidelines in the manner adopted by the Idiot in Chief gives the general impression that they are not sufficiently convinced of the rightness of their actions to be able to stand up and publicly defend their decisions. It should come as little surprise then that this unwillingness to engage with their constituents leads to suspicion and contempt.

Come on Conservatives - PROVE ME WRONG!!!

I agree that it would be great to have some input from those councillors who just read AccyWeb and see it as an opposing force. We're not a mob, we're lots of individuals with lots of different opinions. Some of us agree wholeheartedly with each other on some topics and then can fiercely disagree with the same people on an entirely different topic.

I would love to read why those who voted to give this driver his licence back felt justified in doing so and how they would feel if their mothers, wives or daughters were molested by him.
