More Councillors on site
Well done to Clare Pritchard for coming on site.
It just shows the power of this site that the majority of Councillors monitor it. Contrary to popular belief amongst Councillors, this site is not totally about bashing the Council and finding fault where there is none. People on here are voicing their concerns and from what I've seen have more respect for Councillors (and Greg) who come on here and answer questions. Clare did a good thing standing up against the rest of the licensing committee - what would be excellent would be if any of the Councillors who voted for the licence to be renewed to come on site and help us understand why they voted that way. If people are going to use this site when they have positive messages to give out it would also be fantastic if they had the guts to stand up and be counted on controversial decisions. Also, I don't know about Roy so I can't speak for him but my guess is that it wasn't an intention to provide a political voice box. With the bias showing that only Labour Councillors and our MP have the nerve to stand up and be counted on here there is potential that the site could be biased. Come on you Conservatives put your head above the parapet - you never know you might actually get some kudos for it instead of hiding away. Also, I know you monitor the site and probably sit there saying how biased it is - well get on here and speak for yourself. |

Now that's what's scaring them off, be nice. :D
Well, at least for the first few days. :D |
Re: More Councillors on site
It shouldn't matter about political preferences everyone has the right to a voice.:)

Re: More Councillors on site
Totally agree mthead.
But if, as it is at the moment, only one side is voicing their views, then it does skew some things and that's wrong. In a democracy everyone should get to say their piece. |
Re: More Councillors on site

Re: More Councillors on site
Well true, Jaysay did come on here on behalf of the Tories, and some actually thought it was the leader himself posting but it would be great if there was a bit more openess.

Re: More Councillors on site
Can't see any evidence of people whether from the council or just everyday people being limited in expressing thier views.. I get the feeling its more about Tories not having the guts to say what they think unless it's first forwarded to a "mole" or press secretary.. I would have thought a forum such as Accy Web would be ideal for the Tories... they would look like raving commies compared to some of the people on here. :D

I'm here! Although I am not an official voice, and my political orientation is swiftly becoming all social centered :p My friend *ate* my Conservative membership card last night :( Meanwhile more on topic, I think it's great that councilors come here, it can't be an easy decision as sometimes this forum feels more like an angry mob equiped with torches and pitchforks with no rationality on some issues :P |
Re: More Councillors on site
The 'Mole' wasn't forced to be anything to do with the tory party.Anybody with a right mind would have leaked this sort of info out if they knew about it.
