Re: Age discrimination...

I've got to get this off my chest. ;)

I'm over 60 - a "pensioner" and I refuse to be catagorised as an "O A P". I am not old, don't look old, don't act old, don't feel old. I will happily put up my mental faculties against any of you who are a good deal younger than me - and give you a head start to make it fair. :D

I get so tired of hearing scathing comments about older people, how slow, how befuddled, how pathetic we are supposed to be. Yes, when I was a child, most women the age I am now acted old and looked it but I've got news for you. I'm not into shawls and hairnets and rocking chairs by the fire. I'm not round and roly-poly or skinny and stick-like, I don't wear shapeless clothes or fluffy slippers, I still work for a living and I don't drive like a dithering old idiot. OK?

And I applied for my state pension today..........and believe me I don't feel a day over 25.
Young people out there......you too will be a pensioner one day.......and it comes round very quickly.
Like West Ender.....I don't think I look my age......I certainly have an active and enquiring mind and I am not a wrinkly dodderer.

I didn't mind the cocoa bit - it was the "sir" that got me. I'm not a Sir, Mani, I'm a Ma'am.

I suppose one advantage of being older is you become more tolerant of the young. Well, either that or you belt them round the ear hole.

Re: Age discrimination...

:D I'm not a 'sir' either.

Re: Age discrimination...bus update

I have resurrected this thread to update Hyndburn pensioners about the cheap rate coast bus. It is available at £1 return ONLY for Hyndburn NoW pass holders, and ONLY to Blackpool/Clevelys/Fleetwood X82 service. If you fancy changing to the Southport or Morecambe bus when it gets to Blackburn you will have to pay the extra.(unless you have the disabled 'Flat rate' type pass).

This is causing some misunderstandings and extra work for drivers who now have to check your tickets and NoW pass when you change buses on the Boulevard.

Peter Britcliffe extended last year's cheap rate for the X82 service only. Pensioners from outside Hyndburn dont get it, so passengers who live outside Hyndburn feel hard done by.

Old age is a disease, it's contageous every woman/man/boy/girl on this site will catch it if they wake up tomorrow. Some of you will carry the disease longer than others, nowt painfull about it, in fact it can be damn good fun at times if used to ones advantage, half price hair cuts or a good polishing if you have none free bus travel free prescriptions. I could go on all night extolling the virtues of old age, the only thing your's truly misses about being young is a damn good j***p.:D
