This idea is nothing new, crystal radios don't need a battery and have been around since 1904. I made one when I was a kid. They are explained here Crystal radio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NASA have had a rethink about CO2.
It actually reflects heat from solar emissions back into space, and thus prevents global warming.
