Good point. When we in the UK were in a depression in the eighties, I know load of tradesmen who became economic migrants, chasing tradesmens jobs all over Europe. |

Just like we did in the eighties. West Germany, the Netherlands, Saudi. All off trying to earn a crust for their families back home. And despite trying to second guess me, or put words into my mouth Puss, I don't agree with an open border policy for migrants, and I don't think we should be part of the EEC. |

Re: Not Happy........ split thread.
There's always been economic migration. From the dawn of time man has wandered the globe trying to find a better life. You can't blame people for trying, though you can try and stop them. Just as the U.S. government would try and stop us from going to work/live there. Hell, the U.K. is the only damn country not eligible to enter their green card lottery draw they have. Special relationship my arse.:D

Re: Not Happy........ split thread.
its always puzzled me, go to spain n the train staff, taxis, electricity, postal, buses, etc etc, are all spanish, spain is a member of the EEC,yet they only employ their own, you get immigrants working in real estate @ odd soliciters but thats because much property is purchased by immigrants, whose got it right?

I disagree. I have friends working in Spain, and throughout Europe, in a variety of jobs. I think a Spaniard would find it quite hard getting a job in Accy if they didn't speak any English. |
