Re: My New Iron

i paid £50 for my first good iron and it lasted me 8 years!!, now i got a new one and just paid £70, hoping it will last another 8 years, does a good iron everytime...better than the cheap £10 ones that dont last 2 mins.
if ya want something good you have to pay the price..;)

I don't actually mind the ironing......when will someone invent an iron that puts it all away for you once you have done it? Now, that would really get my interest.....and my money!

Now what are you ladies complaining about? Look back into the dark distant past and you can see it was women that invented ironing in the first place,

Picture the scene, old caveman has planned to go on a weekend hunting party with the lads when just as he gets close to the entrance his female gives out a big roar and calls, "just where do you think your going with your tiger skin in such a mess? Give it here and I'll club some of the creases out of it before you leave, no man of mine is going to be seen in such a disgraceful loin cloth!"

So you ladies made this tedious work no man was ever bothered about such things.

What you all need is one of these each:-

Re: My New Iron

I hate ironing - I iron clothes as and when they are needed i.e. about half an hour before I leave the house.

I haven't had much luck with irons lately. I had one for about ten years and decided that it was time for a new one so for my wedding anniversary last year I asked for one from my Mum and Dad (well I wasn't going to go out and buy it for myself). A really nice one turned up so I took the old one off the ironing board and put it underneath (just in case) and started using the new one. Unfortunately, I could never quite get the heat setting right and either ended up with still creased clothes or burnt ones! So the irons swapped places and the old one returned to the board. :D

On the day before our holiday in August this year, the old one finally gave up the ghost. As the day before a holiday is the only time I ever attack a pile of ironing I was a bit stuck. So, when I went into town for suntan cream, etc, I dashed into Wilkinsons for a new iron. They didn't have much choice so I picked one up and bought it. :o

I put the old one on the floor under the ironing board next to the other one and started using the new one. I didn't like it. I didn't have the 'weight' and even on its top heat wasn't really working, however, it was sufficient for holiday clothes. :(

On return from holiday I decided that a cheap iron wasn't the solution so went out and bought a brand new, expensive one that I'm hoping will last for ten years. I got home and put the cheap one on the floor next to its two friends. :o

So, basically I own four irons - one that is good and works, one that is expensive but burns things, one that is cheap and nasty and the old one that doesn't work anymore. Underneath my ironing board looks like a little iron graveyard.

And there goes the saga of my irons! :D:D:D:D
