The old style irons were the best. You know the ones before thermostats were invented. The ones that got hotter and hotter until you switched the electric off.
That took real skill in ironing without burning the clothes. They also had another function in the navy. We would get some bread from the galley, someone would swipe some Marge and we made toast by placing the hot iron on a slice of bread. You can't do that with a steam iron. You get crumbs in the steam holes.:Banane43: |
