My New Iron

Got one of those Jet Stream Irons today and just been trying it out. Have to say it was worth getting, it makes light work of the job. Would advise anyone who hates ironing to invest in one:)

Ironing is the worst job in the world.

I don't do steam ironing. I just iron damp things which gives very little steam.

It's not very often that I Iron so it would be a waist of time buying an high tech gadget. I tumble dry my cloth's summer ad winter. takeout of dryer while still warm. Smooth down with hands, hang or fold right away and hey.... no creases.
I hate the smell of cloths that have been dried outside and my towels always seem to go rough.

I like to hang the towels out in the summer(if we ever get any) but always give them at least ten minutes in the dryer to make them soft.

Re: My New Iron

I try to avoid buying clothes that need ironing.
I have my washer spin cycle at 700 (low) so they come out wet but not dripping. I dont tumble dry - I put them on hangers on rails in a walk in type cuboard to dry.
Takes longer, but they are out of sight. I find that the weight of water in them pulls out the creasing so that I can just move them straight into the wardrobe without ironing at all. This seems to work with any fabric that is 50% synthetic or more. I do have to iron cotton rich fabrics, but never sheets, towels, knickers and nightwear -who sees that creasing anyway?

Sounds good Margaret but I think I will need to carry on ironing for a while or somebody won't be to happy about getting this high tech iron for me. To be honest I'm okay once I get into it, just takes me quite a while to motivate myself.

The only things I iron are shirts. I don't like towels dried outside either. They seem to end up like cardboard.

Whats ironing? :D:D:D

I iron when i need my clothes ironing that means once a week normally 45 mins before im due in work ironing my tshirt for work. At the minute i've got 2 washing baskets full of clothes waiting to be ironed - hate to admit to this but god knows how long some of them has been there!!! So Bernie if you want practice at using your new iron you can always give me a shout and you can practice on that lot!!! :D:D:D
