Though in Grahams case he had a 3rd party application where people posted to it. I don't have the problems of people posting pictures on my facebook as I don't have that application, I stick to the official facebook one.

The young lady poster was an accepted friend .. 'course might be getting this all wrong, but that's the way I see it ?

I am no expert on facebook but I can see most peoples profiles without being on there friends list. I suspect that a lot of people's friends are nothing more than acquaintances and not really friends. You have a few on yours Kate that I am sure you don't class as friends, just people you know.

The lady who posted that funny picture is on both Graham's and his girlfriends list of friends. She may in fact be a friend of Graham's girlfriend and not realise the awkward situation her posts may cause Graham. That was what I meant by why those types of sites are not always a good idea.

That's not quite right, katex. As far as I know you can only post on someone's page if you're a trusted friend but anyone and everyone can see them if you have a 'friend' who's linked to them as a 'friend'.

Re: Apology To Graham Jones

I can only speak about MySpace but on there you can either make your profile public or private and if it's private you have to be ban accepted friend in order to post a comment and view the profile. I have people on mine who are real life friends. I have others who are online friends and I have some who are friends of friends and have become online friends. I have about 90 friends on there - some of them are musicians and people tend to assume that therefore they must be people I don't know. In fact it's quite ironic with mine that a lot of the musicians (or, in a couple of cases at the mo, soon to be ex-musicians) they are known to me personally. There are two 'friends' who I have never met nor even communicated with other than on myspace.

As regards the image on Graham's Facebook, I don't actually think the person who posted it did so with malicious intent. I think they saw it as a joke image which they had received from someone else and found funny and passed on to other people in much the same way that people pass on funny emails. It probably never even dawned on the poster that it could have been embarrassing for Graham if they didn't see it as embarrassing to themselves.

I have a lot of friends on Facebook who I've never met and am never likely to - I play a lot of scrabble with them.

You can make your profile private so people can't view it but most of the time you can find people by finding other people and tracking through their friends.

LOL .. getting complicated 'aint it.

Well, I went through a certain person's friends and do not appear to get onto their friend's site to view their posts ..

Ah well, think he may have cancelled his account now anyway .. so maybe Neil did some good for him at the end of the day ...

The first rules in life:

Never Apologise

Never Explain

I suggest Neil sticks to playing with his Ryddings Park bunny rabbits, rather than grovel every time some plan goes wrong.

As an expert in Facebook :D.. when you create your Facebook page you can choice whether to make it for Public viewing or just limit the viewing to friends. Obviously an error was made when it was created.
