Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
I want someone to invent a jack-in-a-box mechanism for wheelie bins so that when a stranger lifts the lid, a big sign and fart noise will announce
NO DOG S**T HERE |
Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
We had our house number on in those stick on things but it didn't stop somebody nicking it. They'll have torn them off by now. Although I did like them better than the painted on numbers I am certainly going to paint the next one.
Just be my luck to get one with an 'Accrington and Districts' crest on when I do not support the name change. |
Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
When the wheelie bins first came out my bin went on near enough the first week. Rang up council and they explained to me that i wasnt entitle to another bin cause there wasnt 7 living in the household. I went on to explain that it had been stolen, she didnt believe me. We were living in clayton at the time and we waited and waited and never got a replacement in the year we were there. We put the bin bags out every other week(nightmare) and disgusting. Where we are living now if we have an extra binbag the bin men take it but in some places over the borough i know they dont. Seems strange to take the spare bin bags from a terraced house and not the detached when they are paying so much more council tax.

I have never met a more `Jobsworth` bunch than the `superior than anyone else` Hyndburn Bin Operatives..........Rearrange these words to make a well known saying...Old ,Rope, Money, For.

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
It's not just the bins though is it? I had my white sack for the paper recycling nicked several months ago. Well I say nicked, but it could have blown away as they tend to just chuck them over the garden wall, and if your not in at that time then it's tough!!
I've been putting my cardboard/paper out in carrier bags and they still won't give me another white sack. It's like asking for gold!! |
Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
White and blue sacks are available from the Town Hall, if it's open when you get there and there is anybody about to serve you.........

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
I'm always calling in at the Town Hall for new sacks. They used to hook them through the gate but just chuck them on the path now and the blow away - mind you last time we ended up with 3 blue sacks so the wind must have been blowing our way for a change.
Latest on the wheelie bin front - I have received and filled in my document from HBC - not so much a chitty more of an interrogation sheet! Flippin nora! When did you last see your bin? What time did you put your bin out? What time did you attempt to bring it in? How many days since you last saw your bin? Have you searched for your bin? Have you asked neighbours if they have sen your bin? Are you sure you haven't got it up a corner and failed to notice it? Oh yes I am going to overlook a bloomin great wheelie bin! I even had to declare that to the best of my knowledge all the information was correct and if found to be incorrect I could be refused a bin. Sheesh! It's like the flippin gestapo. Also they may not guarantee I get an unused bin. I may get a recycled one! :D |

A few weeks ago when we were having a mad paper shredding day we filled up our white sack. I called into the reception at Scaithcliffe house and asked for a spare white sack. I was given one straight away no questions asked. |
Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
Ah but Forceten lives in Blackburn, not Hyndburn. Maybe they are stingier over there.

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
That is definitely a lot of questions for the request of replacing a bin:rolleyes:
If they took it every week I am sure people would see less of a need to nick the wheelie bins cos they'd have enough room in their own bin |
Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
I felt like a suspect in an Agatha Christie novel "The Mysterious Disappearance of Willow's Wheelie Bin" - maybe they think I'm into wheelie bin smuggling as a sideline?

Can't understand if anybody would take for use as an extra bin ? Surely they will not empty 2 bins will they ? Just seems like somebody who may have have their own bin lifted .. well, suppose that's re-cycling, in its lowest form. |
Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
Thing is Katex not all bins are collected from outside of the owner's property. Ours for instance ends up in a little huddle with the neighbours' bins and a couple from round the corner, so they can't really tell how many bins belong to where. But when I queried with the council the fact that I know one house has two bins, one of which did not originate round here, they said it wasn't up to the bin men to wonder if the bins belonged to that house or how many bins they had or were entitled to. It is just their job to empty them.
I also questioned if they could go a bin hunting with their chip tracking device and they said only if I spotted what I suspected to be our bin and then they could attempt to prove it! I ask you! How do you tell one wheelie bin from another? The only identifying marks ours had were the stick on numbers which have no doubt been pulled off by now. |
