Ours for instance ends up in a little huddle with the neighbours' bins and a couple from round the corner, so they can't really tell how many bins belong to where. I see thanks. Can understand the binsmen point of view though, just there to empty them, not query, otherwise, would get into all types of situations. Agree with this.

I painted my number on after Mez's experience .. they pinched it from under her nose !!

The way I see it is that one person loses thier bin, (and I have seen the bin wagon devour a whole bin instead of emptying it), that person nicks another bin which isnt thiers etc etc.

I meant if you report yours as missing then when the bin wagon picks it up it should alarm them that it is a missing bin so they can return it to you. Simple really isn't it?

Willow maybe you should look around Woodnook. Area council tonight reported that some yards have three wheelie bins! :D

Well whaddya know!

Today was wheelie bin day again. Last night Emzie went out the back street and what did she spy half way down there? OUR WHEELIE BIN - complete with stick on numbers still stuck on!

Busman went down to investigate and it was there next to a bin which was overfull and the top not closing and yet our bin just had one bag in the bottom of it. So logic tells me that it had not been taken by the people whose bin it was next to or else they would have put their excess rubbish in it instead of leaving their own bin unshuttable.

Anyway he brought it back up here and today we put our two black bags full of rubbish in it and it has been emptied - the minute the bin wagon went I was out there like a shot and brought it back in again.

Have phoned the council and told them we no longer need a replacement to which I was told that's good because there aren't any. She also told me to paint the number on because stick on numbers can be removed. Painted numbers can be painted out too. There's a house which has two bins and one bin has two numbers on it. Yet this week they don't have that bin they have an entirely different bin. Numbers, painted or stuck on don't make a ha'porth of difference round here. It's just a case of get out there and grab it back as quick as you can. Not good for people who are working though is it?

I was thinking of doing something invisible but detectable when you shine a light on it. I've got some of that paint somewhere - just got visions of it eerily glowing in the backyard every night though :D

Heard a bit on the news where they had dropped this system due to it not being reliable.... not sure if just one particular council though or Nationwide.. :confused:

No he emptied mine instead katex. Mind you ive known him for years .... he grew up in rising bridge....... then again his wife has just been let out as well.

Forget the chip that's already in the bin, and pet's passports, there's obviously a market for tracking devices for wheelie bins.
