Re: Drug Test? Job Application

i think the drug testing could get complicated - there are many prescription AND over the counter drugs that athletes cant take because of something or other that is in them -
and it could look like they have taken performance enhancing drugs when they havent -
i think one of the british players used a vicks nose sniffy thing (cant remember what they called sorry ) and in america they had something different in them which was related to amphetamine - or showed up as such - i think he was suspended until they found out what it was --

so where would the protection be from things like this ?

surely the fact that you are on 'valium' is or should be an automatic disqualification from some jobs , so why do you feel you have an entitlement to sue ? thats as insane as someone who has lost both feet sueing because he's not allowed to join a clog dancing troupe.

The some jobs that you say i wouldnt probably apply for anyway because of the medical condition.

You ever been told to your face that you are over qualified for the job and that he would hire you in a flash .... just to be told that because of the medical condition that he wouldnt hire you? I have .... oh and it was an office juniors job and it was a solicitor that said it. That is the kind i meant.

i work for for a company that delivers to a main super market which requires the tests and if we have a small accident or crack a lens we have to have a drug & alcohol test . the alcohol test is the same as the police .the drug test they have to get a doctor in. you have to give a sample of urine which they dip a strip of card in which shows strips if your positive. before the test you are asked if you are on any medication. if you fail because of your medication you are supended.for a week or two with full pay, ( which gets abused if you cant get hols )its we known which medicines fail the test .til the result comes back. if you fail because of other substances you are sacked. the doctor charges about £350 a test. i have now worked for two firms that give drug tests on the interview.
