Been told Transdev have taken all buses off the road until lunchtime, though I have seen 1 or 2 stragglers who were probably already out.

The council workmen actually walked past the town hall this morning and headed for Broadway. Not checked yet though :D

News : Lancashire County Council winter gritting update

theyre still not going to fill grit bins ...Lancashire is still being kept moving but we still can't yet divert scarce supplies to refilling grit bins and dealing with side roads, until we can be completely sure we're not jeopardising the safety of the main roads.

accyman 06-01-2010 02:08

Re: Take your Life in yer Hands.

not to worry im sure they have scheduled grit bins to be filled in an appropiate time scale

like july for example:rolleyes:

its bloody ridiculous there are certain areas that need gritting more than others as they directly cut off people from been able to get onto the main road like where someone lives in a dip and the only access to the main road is up a hill, local coucilors should be aware of these places and even if they cant gritt all the side roads they should ensure that hazardous and essential access routes be at least gritted.I know accrington and its surrounding areas liek teh back of my hand so it isnt too much to expect a local councilor of somthing so small as a ward to have a bit of knowledge on where the dangerous and potential areas for peopel getting stranded are

oh hang on thats what the gritt bins are for they are put where they are because they are known areas of great hazzard potential when it snows but they arnt filling them.Bloody idiots

i pitty those stuck up near the outskirts who have to pay the same council tax as us yet because their road is unadopted they will never see 1 grain of gritt even if teh council decide to gritt hazardous areas

You make you bed and all that.

That is one of the problems with unadopted roads. They would have shown up in the searches when the houses were bought.

I do however believe that all roads in towns should be adopted. They only need to pick up one or two a year in this area and we would have no unadopted roads in a few years.

Re: Take your Life in yer Hands.

i dont live on an unadopted road but i think they shoudl either recieve teh same services or pay less council tax, also not everyone buys a house they rent so unless told about it people arnt aware they are moving onto an unadopted area. There is one street off ormerod street that is in a terrible state and you wouldnt think it to be unadopted because of its location and the fact that every street surrounding it is adopted

its about time the ridiculous unadopted road issue was sorted we all have to pay the same taxes so we shoudl all be treated teh same

another thing that stinks is that when a new estate is built councils arnt resposible for their roads either yet the occupants still have to pay full council tax fees

if the council wether local or county want peoples money then they should provide the services

As far as I am aware the Council usually make an agreement with the builders to adopt the new roads when all the building is complete as long as the roads have been constructed to the required standards.
