The last really bad winter, in 1963, meant there was snow from Christmas until Easter.

Since the Met Office say this cold snap is to last another two weeks at least, will refuge collections be discontinued until the weather gets better?

Will refunds be available for those who don't have collections?

There are people who haven't had their bins emptied for weeks. And as you say who knows what the weather's going to be like for the next few weeks.

The thing that concerns me is that a decision has been made to suspend bin collections until Monday. Are we saying that it's impossible to collect from anywhere in the Borough at the moment. And also how do we know it's going to be any better by Monday. And if not what happens then.

Let's be thankful we are only in a 'war against terrorism'.

If this was World War II, with today's leaders in charge, we'd have given up and surrendered by Christmas 1939.

Do any of our councillor members know the percentage of the council tax that is spent on refuge collection?

If so it'll be easy for residents to work out how much to deduuct from their payements, for non-delivery of service.

Presumably all the men who would otherwise be emptying the bins are now out with shovels clearing the sidestreets and pavements from snow.

Our collection this week should have been the recycling, what happens next week? is it normal bins or do they re-start from where they finished?? IE next week will be our recycling

They were clearing the footpaths by hand in Ossy this morning.

I was told they were using shovels.

;):D

Since more heavy snow is being forecast, residents and businesses would probably have preferred them to have been emptying the bins, as their colleagues in Burnley have been doing this week.

If as the Met Office say, this cold snap could last for many more weeks, perhaps the saying about making hay whilst the sun shines, should be heeded, as it might be an age before refuse is now collected.

Freezing or not, that won't stop dogs, cats, and vermin ripping open the mountains of black sacks we are now begining to see on our streets.

I was stood in a certain bakers waiting for my small ( they don't do large any more ) bacon sarnie when I saw them. I looked hard to break up as well. They even had some of that elusive grit in that back of the wagon.
