So a few young people got a bit of Saturday afternoon fun........I fail to see how that promotes the town(maybe I'm thick)...especially if all there is to show for it is a poor video clip on You Tube.

And yes Shaz you are right, I have no teenage children....but I can't see how that makes a difference...if something is being done that promotes the town, then all well and good, but in my opinion(and I know that isn't worth a lot)......I think it was just a gimmick, and a gimmick with very little substance which did nothing to promote Accrington........Not a moan, just an observation.

Nope you still think it was all about the final event and ignore the many hours they spent before that.

Of course ... would have cost more than £1,160.

Like the one Steeljack put up. If you go into the details, it was promoted by a professional photographers and media promotors to, no doubt, give them publicity .. had over a million hits on You Tube. The singer, from Chorus Niagara, I am confident received a large donation/payment to their funds and supported by the Canadian Arts Council.

The singers would not be locals.

There has to be a nucleus of people to get the ball rolling, Cashy.

I think us supporters are banging our head against a brick wall here, it was also about getting young people together to enjoy the camaraderie and team work of a joint effort. Repeated again.

Seems to me some of you are just enjoying your cynicism of who can, over and over again, enter the best put down.

I thought it was great fun and those watching did appreciate the lift it gave Broadway for a short while.

If I were to offer any criticism at all .. I think the routines were a little too complicated to allow the shoppers to join in, but I am just offering it in a constructive way.

That's what I thought the point of these things were. Not the larf had by the dancers, but the ripple effect on the members of the public in attendance. Whether that be people joining in or just turning their heads at what's going on.

Frankly, anything that can brighten up a modern day Accrington town centre, make people pick their dreary eyes up off the dreary cracks in the dreary pavement, is a good thing in my book. Sixteen-hundred-quid seems a very small price to pay for that. There will be many a more useless penny spent in this borough, that's for sure.

shaker theres nowt wrong wi brightening up the day,but from what i gleaned these things don't usually cost townsfolk money, albeit spent by the funds available, is it not correct they are normally done spontaneously?
